Recently re-read Dune and currently on T.E. Lawrence's Seven Pillars of Wisdom and was wondering if anyone can recommend any decent books about the Long Range Desert Group. Preferably more Seven Pillars, less Bravo 6-0.
Covered by Ben Macintyre's Rogue Heroes, history of the SAS.
The SAS worked very closely with the LRDG in the North Arfican war and then took on all their techniques before parting company.
Have you read "Popski's Private Army"
Swashbuckling tale and one of the early precursors of the LRDG/SAS
Eastern Appoaches by Fitzroy Maclean includes chapters on the desert campaign in North Africa, as well as his exploits in the former USSR and Balkans.
Macintyre, as above.
As it happens, just finished reading this,

An interesting piece of more recent history about them.
Holy thread revival Batman.
OP...did you ever find the books you were looking for?
I've just finished reading Popski's Army by Park Yunnie - Popski's 2IC, and the history of LRDC by David Lloyd Owen who finished the war as CIC.
Books are available if you want them...£5 each including post if you take both of them.
PM me.
Phantom Major about the formation of the SAS, but LRDG features heavily.
Slight tangent, I'm currently reading "Colonel Paddy" by Patrick Marrinan. It's a good read. About Blair 'Paddy' Mayne, founding member of the SAS who worked with the LRDG.
Have you read “Popski’s Private Army”
