As title, been looking for a suitable first bike for the my eldest son to start learning on.
He's 5 next month, but he's a tall lad, already 120cm height with inside leg of 52cm
So that rules out the 16" bike types like the Isla bike CNOC 16
Would i be better off going straight to a larger bike i.e. Beinn 20, even though it's got gears etc
that are obviously not going to be used initially?
Or are there others i should be looking at?
Balance bike, not stabilisers. Although at 5 he's probably past that point.

yep... he's got a like a bike totally outgrown that... so it's onto a bigger bike
Our youngest went from cnoc 16 to beinn 20 about that age and was fine. Took him about 6 months to even think about the gears.
Beinn 20. Great bike, it's SO light compared to anything else.
He can scoot on it without pedals if needed then go for it properly.
After a balance bike it's the best option...and it'll sell for nearly what you pay for a new one!
And don't worry about the gears for now, he'll get it in time. My lad is convinced that the hardest gear is the best, all the time. It's getting him strong. 😯
Islabikes are great, light and well thought out. Pricey but high resale values.
