You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Just been on a photography day and quite fancy a tripod to open up a few more options
We have a light dslr and just plastic bodied lenses so doesn't need much strength. Main criteria are not much money and small enough to throw in a walking rucksack
This any good?

Got one of these :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SIRUI-T-025X-Tripod-Ballhead-Carbon/dp/B00AZTCHK2
is very light - takes a good weight - unfolds and folds quickly (one handed grip of all the legs and a single twist to lock/unlock) - has a clip on the centre so you can hang your bag from it to make it more stable.
I looked at the compact as well, but this is a fair bit lighter and fits into the taller bit of a lowepro passport bag nicely :

The best advice I can give is to try a few out if you can. The best tripod in available is the one you have with you. If it's too big or too heavy you won't take it anywhere and so it's a total waste of time.
I was just looking at this one, seems pretty good for the price: https://www.jackthehat.co.uk/iron-premium-compact-travel-tripod-with-ball-head-p-1102.html
Folds pretty small, and includes a decent ball head.

I've got one of these Velbon Ultra Maxi-M very compact & light enough to put in a backpack, it has been on a couple of trekking holidays & up to the top of Kilimanjaro. It's rated capacity is 2kgs
The one that Topper has linked to is a similar design, bigger but the rated capacity is a 4kgs but for the same money.
My wife got me the one in toppers' link, but with carbon legs and it's a nice size for putting in a small backpack for walking and is perfectly solid enough for normal use.
I previously got a Manfrotto 055c and 029 head off Ebay for £50 which is solid as a rock but too heavy and bulky for walking very far with.
There are loads on Ebay at decent prices.
My link is still winning for weight and load capacity - 0.8kg and 6kg, although it is a bit more money (although not much more than the one linked to by the op).
As I was taking it on holiday the weight advantage was significant.
The head is pretty decent as well.
This any good?
I'd be looking for a ball head. The lever affairs are better suited to video work.
