We have a few iPads in the house, but they are getting on now.
Fancy an Android tablet for a change.
10" or bigger screen, decent memory and ok camera.
What recommendations?
Thanks.
The Android tablet market is almost dead, as you can see by the ancient versions of Android most of them are running, but the new Huawei M5 looks good. Otherwise it's whichever Samsung fits your budget.
Thanks, so if non Apple, Samsung worth a punt?
Or, if Android has been surpassed, what?
Thanks.
mmmmm, tablet

I use a Lenovo Miix for almost everything now as I like having all my WIndows software on it. Would have a Surface Pro if I had the dosh
The Samsungs are sound. The Tab S3 is the current top of the range, but it's expensive. S2 is previous top model, now less spendy. Tab As are cheaper. It is worth a look at the Huawei I mentioned, as it is a brand new model whereas most of the others are getting on a bit. I'm still looking for a decent replacement for my Nexus 7, looks like the Huawei M5 8.4 might be it.
I’ve been through this as I read the news, email and Stw plus some general googling only, with banking apps and Instagram . I got to these in no particular order:
a) Amazon Fire 10 - we are a Prime household so this is a cheap option and gives me movies
b) An Asus Chrome flip
c) the new 9.7 £320 ipad, I have a keyboard for the old 9.7 yet to see if it fits the new device.
But, work gave me a older 9.7 iPad albeit with MDM, and although the policy states my use and apps aren’t tracked I’m loathe to personalise it, yet it’s free which is clouding my decision.
Lenovo tab 4 plus worth a look ,good spec nice screen
I replaced my Nexus 7 with this Samsung Tab 2. I've had it since Black Friday, last year and I'm happy with it. Recommended.
I've not used the camera, so haven't a clue what it's like.
Been using a Lenovo Tab 3 Plus for a while now - the QHD display is fantastic, and the Dolby Atmos sound is also pretty impressive for a tablet. Good battery life and stable software. Would buy another one without hesitation if the current one got pinched.
S2 tablets here. Very good, even after a few years. Have a keyboard which we swap between them as needed, as well as the normal cases.
Memory is grand, and easily expandable with a card. Camera is OK, but using a tablet for taking photos is a mug's game.
I recently got a Huawei M3 Lite (at Christmas) for as cheap as chips and was pleasently suprised with it. Really depends on what you want it for, but for basic browsing, games for the kids it's good value. Recent version of Android too.

Is that the one with the little projector?
I am tempted by that but the reviews are mixed.
Huawei are really good. I was surprised to hear that they're third in the global market behind Samsung and Apple.

Having used a Samsung a bit in the past I think you'll ultimately be disappointed. Unless you're looking at non-Apple tablets due to budget I wouldn't bother (and even then you should factor in resale value in your budget). Just get a newer iPad would be my advice...
Last night I went through the process on the Apple website of finding out the value of the mini’s and old devices we have around. I have an original mini which they’ll give me £60 for, and my mini 2 will get me £80. So that’s £140 of the £320 new 9.7 iPad meaning I would be spending £180 for it.
Looking at it that way vs the competition is pretty hard to go anywhere else tbh. That is, until I decided to use my work iPad until I’m told not to 🙂
OP, if you have a few iPads hanging around perhaps go through the same revalue/exchange process and see what you’d get to exchange those?
Leftfield maybe.... but I've been using a cube i6 for a couple of years. Bought it direct from china off banggood or something. It's still working really well and came loaded with windows and android. Was about £100. Definitely buy again.
I prefer my HP 11" Chromebook to any tablet I ahve had.
I really do not think Windows works very well on tablets - Had a Surface 3 which worked ok as a PC with keyboard but was painful to use as a tablet.
Is that the one with the little projector?
No - I've got the version without the projector - at least £100 cheaper (got mine from Argos when they had it on offer).
New pixel tablet?

Having used my parents I pads and my Samsung I'm struggling to see what the problem is unless you just don't get android
I've been using a Linx tablet for the past couple of years, Windows 8 (now comes with 10) and it's been fine. Not much memory but enough for a browser (Chrome) and email, plus Excel and Word if needed.
