Just want something to throw in my Camelbak for taking decent pics.. not just using my phone..
Had a Nikon P310, but that's borked. 😥

Not after DSLR, but something half decent.

Cheers.

Olympus TG1. Pop in a pouch on the outside of your bag, for faster access. None of that stopping and faffing around!
Waterproof, shock proof, easy to operate in gloves. Etc.
Also, takes good pictures. Which is nice.

standard answer - Sony rx100, the mark 2 if you can stretch to it. 1 Inch processor which takes very good pictures. Also has the ability to fiddle with more advanced settings if you fancy it.

are there any compacts with wifi/uploading/client software capabilities that are available to the common man?

New TG series have Wifi capability and sharing stuff, Stoner. TG3, for example.

Not sure if proles are allowed to buy them, however. 😉

I just bought a Panasonic TZ60 which has wifi, GPS etc. Looks like it has enough bells and whistles to keep me reading the manual for a couple of weeks. Haven't worked out how to take a photo yet. 😀

TZ Panasonics are great, whether in full auto mode or using any combination of manual settings.

Sony A5100 takes nice pictures, but slightly larger - depends what you want/need

Forgot to say, don't know about others, but my TG charges directly from a laptop/usb cable, without needing a battery adaptor. Surely every camera should do that? (Still annoys me that my DSLR doesn't)

charges directly from a laptop/usb cable,

I'm always amazed at how many reviews still view this as a negative. It's great IMO!!

I have an Olympus xz-10, which takes great pictures and is really well built, far better than the Panasonic tz range.
