For walking in the hills. Loads out there. I guess they're pretty simple things, and it's only UK hills/moors, but I'd rather not rely on one that came out of a Christmas cracker.

Silva Ranger 3. OK, not the cheapest at around £20 or so, but just a really well made, reliable piece of kit. Which is what you appear to be after!

The mini Silvas work just as well and cost less:

Think of it as a compass in a circular housing orientated North with a base that rotates around it to indicate the direction of travel, either magnetic or on the map.

I thought the bubble showed they were now matured.

Anyway - yes, a Silva will do nicely.
