Basically a group of us are going around Easter bank holiday time with different aged kids (from 1-16years). We have been to Burnbake on the Isle of Purbeck a few times with its lovely woodsy, higgidly piggidly camp spots, open fires, etc and want something similar (without BH traffic hassles).
Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset or even Gloustershire

Wellington Country Park, just outside Reading. It even has dinosaurs!
PS is fairly close to The Lookout/Swinley Forest if you co happen to fit your bike in the car
The Barge Inn at Honey Street, near Pewsey.
It's on the Kennet-Avon canl path (cyclable), behind a pub, nice n flat. Just watch the kids don't fall in the canal.
Just south of Alton Priors. It shows up nicely on Google maps / satellite view
or Barbary castle, they have a cafe for breaky in the morning and there's some big earthworks the kids can run around on?
