You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
A little bit of background, i am 28 and work as a Health Safety and Environmental Advisor/Assistant Manager for a large ex-local authority highways division. This involves engineering projects large and small as well as highway maintenance/construction and many other functions too...far to many to go into but you get the idea.
At the present time i am classed as a technical specialist, there's only really one direct movement 'upward' and that is to HS&E manager, which is great but certainly within this company tops out my progression hopefully by the time i'm 30...Unless i broaden my skills into other, probably general management areas.
The senior management team are keen for me to diversify my skillset as apparently they see me 'going higher' than a technical specialist and more of an all round business/division manager and above.
They have suggested a few qualifications that would set me on the right track but im not sure on which practically is going to be best. They have offered my one day a week for study and of course pay all the fee's. Im not keen on the full degree route as i have been there and done that and not too keen to submerse myself in full blown academia right now.
Any ideas would be very helpful.
Cheers,
Prince 2 iirc
The Prince 2 is really pure Project Management that's the only thing. It doesn't really go into business decisions etc. I should have added i have already completed components of the Prince 2.
Cheers
Prince II and maybe something ISO accredited.
I was leaning toward a diploma in business management or similar. Ive done quite a bit of ISO accredited stuff with BSi, Lead auditor etc etc. I am currently managing or co-managing ISO14001,9001, OHSAS18001 and a number of NHSS standards. I want something really geared towards managing budgets and making business decisions.
Thanks for the suggestions
