Can someone recommend a boning knife that’s like the Robert Welch one below but no more than £25. I have some Robert Welch knives already and they’re ace but this is a gift and I want to spend less than £25.

Ta.

Second ProCook knives, I’ve got their Nakiri vegetable knife, which I bought online on a special offer, it cost £19, and the quality is superb, very sharp, and the riveted Micarta handle scales will probably outlast most people who buy them.
Unless you’re forking out for a fancy Damascus steel blade, I really can’t see the point in spending more.

Funnily enough I was just looking at them on a butchers supply site 2 mins ago

I'm in need of some No5 twine having lent my spool to my sister who now denies she has it 😡

I've just rolled some lamb noisettes(from a 4 rib rack of lamb) for tomorrows dinner, and had to borrow a length of twine from my local butchers. So im in need of another spool.

Took the time to parooze the knife section 😳

And I quite like the look of this one. Not the usual victorinox im used to, but Italian.

Or F.Dick, another very good brand. Keep in mind these are the knives we use in shops and in professional settings, so it doesnt have to be some flashy Damascus steel or have a 50 quid price tag to be up to the job

I'd recommend a 5" over a 6" blade for someone for use in a home kitchen, and its going to be less wieldy.

I dont want to nip anyone's answer, but avoid the curved, and also anything flexible, these are pro shapes and you really need to be used to using them in that setting, so stick with a straight blade. these are used boning out entire carcasses, not tackling a small chicken or leg of lamb.

I want to use it for exactly that, chicken and lamb primarily, the recipient had a cheap one that has disintegrated. I like the look of all of them tbh so now I’m spoilt for choice!

oh and Dick, boning knife… wahey! *s****ing again!

Believe it or not, i am an actual butcher.Time served, and spent too long in the trade both shop and wholesale and the F.dick is my personal recommendation. Its not fancy looking but it is capable.

For a friends wedding, both vegetarians, i got them as a gift a very high end veg prep knife. Unfortunately many years later they divorced, but i heard there was a custody battle over the knife 😆

Thanks all, I’ll pick one of those. The Italian one is out of stock btw. I’m tempted to get one for myself as well now as I’ve seen a couple I also like. 🙄

In a previous life I worked 4 years as a butcher.

Another recommendation for F.Dick here.
