Had one for years that was quite expensive, but not made anymore and doesn’t work now, as someone has smashed the connector and likely broken the inflator itself as now the inflator rattles a lot ! Never did that until it was borrowed.

Anyone got one they can recommend?

i overspent on a dewallt one, which runs off the batteries i already have.

https://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dcc018n-xj-18v-li-ion-xr-cordless-inflator-bare/567KJ

one of those small nice things in life, not having to plug it into the car at all (the cable doesnt reach the back wheels of the van very easily anyway)

Still has a 12v cable input incase you dont have a charged battery, and can do airbeds and inflatables too with the high volume low pressure blower side.

Also just the ticket for blowing the BBQ to get it going.

I added a Topeak Multifitting head to the provided schraeder head, so it can do schader and presta tool free.

Pleased i bought it.

I bought a Worx one, again not having to faff around with a cord makes the job much quicker and I already had suitable batteries. I think they are about £70 bare. A battery and charger would add another £50

We used a Ring one for years in my wife’s car, but it recently died. For my car, I’ve had a cheaper one from Amazon for ages, so we bought another one for my wife’s car. It’s called Sytung, and it cost £18. Im very happy with it.

I didn’t know they did 18v tyre inflators, damn I don’t have dewalt batteries, only makita and ryobi. That dewalt looks like just the ticket.

bought one of the Amazon jobbies linked above for the person that buggered mine, and now trying to find it if ryobi or makita do a 18v 12v combo unit.

Just bough a Ryobi as I already have a few batteries and my old built in battery inflator died.

Works really well.

Viair as some of their range are 100% duty cycle rated, ARB are also well regarded.

In the off chance you have a Landrover you can fit a Glyn Lewis twin alternator mount and run a Range Rover air-con compressor to use as an air compressor. I had one on my 200tdi and it worked well.

Ring have a good online shop, sign up for emails and get a discount. Two year UK based guarantee with readily available small parts. The one I have has a long retractable cable, fittings including presta and a pre-set gauge.
12v power without having to check a battery is charged, what could be more simple?

that looks alright, does it work with the screw on inflator valves that are on cars tyres?

The thumb lever connector type doesn’t fit the valves on the run flats.

I have an AirMan Tour that cost around £15 many years ago and has proven to be reliable. Given the exorbitant cost of using the air line at our local garage it has more than paid for itself.

I don't really understand your question as i have no idea what runflat valves look like or what adaptor they use.

It can be used with Schrader or Presta valves.

I leave a ring one in the car stashed with the spacesaver wheel. But for minor top-ups at home, I just use a regular high volume track pump.

Michelin one given to me by my son for Xmas, when he worked for Halfords. Can’t imagine what could be better on one tbh.

The Ipflin inflator from Amazon at £17 is great. Reasonably fast. Clamps on to valve rather than  screws so fast to use.

Until a year ago I had the second cheapest one in Halfords, very loud and slow but got there eventually.

Then somebody* drove off while it was still attached to the wheel, which made it work even less well.

So I'm also in the market for a new one. May spend a bit more this time...

While I like the idea of an inflator that uses batteries from various cordless tools, there’s extra weight and significant extra cost involved, compared to the usual little plastic ones that are found in the boot of most modern cars. I’ve inflated lots of car tyres as part of my job, using ones grabbed from the back of a nearby car when there’s a spare wheel in the back of the one with a flat.
It wasn’t worth taking the time to swap wheels when the car was going to the workshop, or to be taken away when it needed all tyres to be fully inflated ready for a driver.

I’ve aquired several pumps, only ever needed one once on my old Octavia when I was driving home, and it turned out I needed a new tyre. That was about six years ago, it seems pointless to spend that sort of money for something that might only be used once a decade. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Since I check the tyre pressures at least once a month on two cars- it has an accurate pressure gauge, and also use it occasionally on wheelbarrow/ sack truck/ harp trolley tyres and even on bike tyres it’s probably used every other week. Money well spent in my opinion. Much more versatile than one limited by a 12v external supply

I can't say I've ever considered the extra 0.62kg battery heft when driving round in a 2000+kg vehicle tbh. The fact I'm carrying the batteries anyway makes this point irrelevant, but...

The one i bought has been used every day on the bikes instead of my track pump.

It also goes in the car when i drive anywhere and used on the car weekly to check tyre pressures.

I've got the guild one from Argos which has been great. The combo of battery for convenience,  and 12v ciggie lighter as backup.

Bought the 18v inflator below from ryobi, yes it’s more than I wanted to spend, but I like the idea of not having to trail the 12v lead round and round three cars. Great idea.

I’d have used the STW link tool for the url above, but I’m still seeing STW in dark mode and that text box has white text on white, hilarious.

It's not the best colour choice since the theme changed, but it's readable.

I have some drill-shaped Ryobi, works OK but next one will be automatic one which fills tyre to set pressure automatically. Given that winter tyres are changed typically outdoors in **** weather it would be nice not to be pushing pressure trigger on a slow loud pump for ages.

Track pumps work for car tyres too but they seem to wear out faster when used for that.

I need to change tyres for 1-3 cars twice a year, depending on relatives needs. So called tyre hotel for wife’s lease car is overbooked this year until end of November so I need to do those too.

Quick follow up to my I’ve bought one post.

had a charged 4 amp battery (genuine ryobi) and did all 3 cars today, including the big disco tyres.

what a great little gadget / tool. wished I’d know about and bought one years ago. No more faffage with that 12v lead, or fuses going when using my wife’s car, did all 3 cars in no time at all and so easy.

bloody marvellous. Agree with the sentiments on a battery powered inflator higher up this thread. And the auto shut off is fantastic. I did go and check a few pressures manually to check and all good.
