You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
This has been a "to do" for the last 15 years!!!
Seems like it should get done now as unmarried, cohabiting, home owners with mortgage, both key workers, with our 14 year old child.
What do I need to be aware of?
Any www sites folk recommend?
Not fussed about who gets my tyre collection, more bothered about doing the best for our child / other partner with our equity / finances etc.
Ta
NHS key workers ?

If you’re in the NHS then there’s this.

Ta but no longer NHS.
No idea what they’re like but possibly an option anyway.

I used a link on there recently to start a will writing package with the co-op.
10 days ago though and still waiting for them to get it touch to finalise it. maybe there has been a rush on...
Yea, I'm guessing people are dying to do them right now. I'll enquire about turnaround time before committing to one.
I was thinking the same thing. Also not NHS but working still and life long asthmatic although well controlled.
The most important thing to check is that the provider of the service doesn’t automatically nominate themselves as executor.
It’s not overly common but some do and the fees they charge for acting as executor can be very high.
Other than that for simple wills they can work very well. That said for not a lot of money you can sit down in front of a solicitor and talk the whole thing through which, if U18’s are a consideration or there’s specific things you want, is the route I’d go.
I used a self write will thingy before a trip a few tears ago. Then at a later date used a solicitor who offers free changes down the line as part of the service. If you have stuff to leave to a few people use a solicitor, he absolutely tore apart my original will I had done. Lots of people fallout over money and wills. If you have **** all do it yourself, if you’ve got cash and property get a solicitor.
Agree with Marin. A solicitor can provide you with information bespoke to your situation that an on-line service can't. Quite often you can get cheap wills through charity schemes e.g. Free Wills Month (the next one is October 2020).
I looked at a few, and some seemed to be dubious - such as making themselves Executor, or expecting a subscription rather than a one-off. I went to Legalo - one off fee for the template (£30), which comes with explanations about why certain clauses are there, and you can use it for as many wills as you like. The template is MS Word and has automatic numbering - I guess it would load in things like Open Office if you don't have Word but the numbering might not work 100%. Whether there's a better deal I don't know, but it worked for me.
PS - would have used a solicitor, but not at the moment. Still need some witnesses.
My mate has a business providing will writing and power of attorney. Not sure how he's getting on given the current situation but if you're any near preston-ish, I could get you his number!
Blatant plug, you can book a video consultation with me and I will give you bespoke advice and sort your will out for £ 99. www.will-probate.co.uk
Mods take this down if it is not allowed.
Still need some witnesses.
Witness (singular) if you're north of the border. And a car bonnet.

Cheers all, gone with a local solicitor, done first bit by phone today, draft on the way, still need to think through a couple of options, will have socially distanced neighbours sign. Will get a civil partnership later that won't revoke the will.
Thanks to this thread I'm about to fill in the information from my union's will writing service.
