I need 4 tyres (ouch) as the rear are worn down to tread indicators and the front are cracking in between treads.
I have an Isuszu D-Max.If I'm being honest, it's used for 95% of its life on roads. Rutted, pot-holey roads on occasion but, mostly road. Infrequent mud / sand use; a bi-weekly beach car park, but a car park where you'd be nervous parking getting a car out).
They need to be quiet or my wife will blame me.
I've been googling and reading for a couple of hours now but every tyre I find gets very mixed reviews. I'm in my 30s but this is the first time I've bought tyres! Feeling stressed.
So, moon on a stick time.
Quiet on road performance.
Good mpg.
Long wearing.
Off road performance (sand and mud) - never snow (here in Thailand).
Rugged looks and white writing on the sidewalls is a bonus 🙂

tbh something like a toyo open country (very road biased) would be more than enough for what you describe - on sand simply lowering the pressure can be more useful than aggressive treads.

your last point makes me think you want BFG ATS - if so just make sure you get the new design. much quieter on road. but for the love of god - white writing inwards.
Currently have Pirelli Scopion ATR. They've never been great anywhere. Noisy on road, slippy off and, when it's wet, putting your foot down in 3rd will make you lose traction!
I've been looking at the BFG ATS but wondered how noisy they may be. How do I know if they're the new deign?

The problem with lowering pressures is driving home afterwards.
It's a tricky situation as we go to the beach most weekends. The good car parks and spots are certainly off road (and I've lost count of the number of people who get stuck in the sand) but not enough for us to buy the Maxxis Bighorns I'd like!

This will happen with almost any tire in a pick up in the wet unless your loaded - nature of the beast im afraid.

if your going into areas where you need to lower pressures to get out you need to be carrying a pump or your going to get stuck sooner or later.

for differences. Had the old design on my old 4x4 and they were good although prone to squirm about.
Of those you list ive only used open countries - they were more than adaquate for getting me about in deep snow , ice and mud(so nothing like what you have) in my landy. and quiet on road.
Kumho road ventures are fine for what you describe but look a bit meh. KL 78 ATs are a bit meatier looking if that's your thing.

Yes, got them on the Defender, in 265/75 for the 'monster truck' look. Surprisingly forgiving on tarmac for a mud tyre but definitely more at home off-road.KL71s look awesome and stick like shit
I'll be buying some BFG AT KO2's, but I doubt they'll be quiet. Look good though and get great reviews (pic on the winter tyres thread)
As for M&S road tyres, my current Continental Cross Contacts have been good. Goodyear Wranglers are good too, but stay away from Bridgestone Duellers unless you want to end up in a ditch
As above Bridgestone Duellers avoid them even if free.
I have Goodyear Wranglers on my truck, pretty happy with them for my use, don't think they would be any good in serious mud though.
I hate Bridgestones with a passion.
Currently I have Cooper AT3s on the L200 and they are really very, very good both onroad and off (they fixed some of the more "interesting" handling characteristics of the vehicle that were partially the fault of the Duellers).
Cheap (relatively speaking) too.

Maxxis Bravo AT 700. (£80)
Yokohama Geolander A-T/s (£100)
Hankook Dynapro AT-M (£96)
Thoughts on them? Similar prices. Again, mixed reviews on all of them when you read on line.
