I'm aware of the issues with woodburners, however we have one, we need it for heat, and we're in the middle of nowhere.

The fan we have has packed in. It's the one left by the previous owners and has always been a hit and miss. So, I want get a replacement, there are obviously a gagillion available, but I want one that will reliably work. Any recommendations?

we've got two posh ie expensive ones which are roughly 8 years old now. One has had a new motor when it took longer to get going but otherwise they both work fine still. However a friend has a non-posh one and its been fine for years also.

Personally I wouldn't buy an expensive one again but at the time there was limited choice. From memory it's a caframo or similar sounding company. IIRC they started posting on here a few years back when there was a string of DIY fan building threads, I think they got short shrift for one reason or another!

edit I just googled them and they seem a bit cheaper than I was expecting

also you may be able to replace the motor?

Some of the reviews of cheap ones on Amazon say they draw the air in the wrong direction!

Aldi or Lidl in the Isle of Shite.

We have a Valiant that the stove supplier gave us and one from one of the above seller of dreams. Both work as they should. One was around £100 the other less than £20. I can’t see or feel £80 difference.

We have a 4 bladed 'heat powered stove fan' brand and a 2 blade 'Workzone' from the Isle of tat. The 4 blade starts sooner, spins faster and runs on after the 2blade has stopped.
The 4 blade obviously has a better Peltier cell.

For peakSTW you need a Stirling engine powered fan. And a Sandvik axe.

For peakSTW you need a Stirling engine powered fan.

Unfortunately most Sterling engine kits are unsuitable for woodburners. The operating temperature is too low (sterling engine) or too high (woodburner).

I looked and the details are beyond my tiny brain.

Cheers all, I was going to got for a 'premium' one but seems like they're not worth it. I'm off for an eBay trawl.

Hey IHN, I have one in a removals box that we'll not be needing again, you’re welcome to it, if you can wait a bit, currently abroad. It’s a Valiant, from memory. Ping me a PM if interested.
