I'm looking for a soldering iron for digital electronics work.  The first project is to fix an Akai MPC 1000 that a friend gave me.  It needs some small push switches removing and replacing.  So that involves desoldering the old switches from the PCB and then soldering the new ones on.

I'd like a temperature controlled one, I guess in the 30W to 40W range (correct if I'm wrong!) and spend about £50 ideally.

Thanks.

what about this one.. I use it for building multirotor drones... heat gun is good as well... you may have to purchase separate soldering tips though.,.

I've been using a Katsu 852d for very similar stuff with eurorack diy and have found it spot on.
