I've been using a cheap crappy keyboard since my Das Keyboard Ultimate (Cherry Brown) broke a couple of years ago (or less). I don't know what's wrong with the Das but it stopped working shortly after dismantling and cleaning the dust out, and then replacing all the blank keys (ie the entire keyboard) with more regular marked keys so the kids could use it. Originally I wanted to replace the Das, as I really like the volume knob on the corner, and like the feel of it, it's weighty, etc.
But £125. I'm thinking more like £75. Any full size mechanical keyboards come recommended for that price, or is that too low?
Cheers, now off to look to see what I can find, but recommendations would be helpful also, thanks.
Also, I don't want no batteries in my keyboard. Wired is perfect. USB rechargeable would be acceptable if they're reliable.
I like Corsair keyboards from Scan but they have a big choice for not much money to stupid prices.
They also sell refurb which are usually ex display keyboards.

New keyboard arrived and I need something to type to test it out. Thank you everyone for your input. I am now the owner of Montech MKey TKL Darkness colourway (from Scan).
Yes that's right TKL - that's a tenkeyless keyboard, meaning there is no numeric keypad. I went for TKL after realizing I never ever use the numeric keypad! After I placed the order and investigating other keyboards I could have purchased, I also realized it lacks the Print Screen and Power keys. I have grown passionate about screen grabs over the years so this did cause some initial upset but I figure that a suitable key combination can be found to assign these functions to anyway.
First impressions of the MKey TKL are good. It has a very noticeable weight (1.3kg) compared to the cheap OEM keyboard it is replacing. Combined with the rubber feet it feels very solid and doesn't slide at all.
Second, it is quite a high keyboard, I have never used a wrist rest when typing, but this is high enough that I might consider it, however I am attempting to reactivate my muscle memory for touch typing which could be a factor in the ache I'm feeling.
I had stopped touch typing on the cheap/OEM keyboard because the keys felt so horrible, the MKey TKL feels much nicer to type on, a little quieter too. It uses Gateron G Pro 2 (Cherry Brown equivalent) switches.
Here is a picture.
It also does that pointless RGB lighting thing which I've turned off (nearly off, each key gently pulses when pressed, as close to off as I can get without specific software).
Very nice 👍
The RGB keyboard can be customised. Especially useful for using in low light.
Looked on their website and there's various key combos to control the lights etc, and can turn them all off completely - the disk/knob (top right) is bright.
if you're on windows windows key + shift + s will do screen capture - with the added benefit of only selecting the area you want
Ah lovely!
The problem with mechanical keyboards is once you get used to them, you can never go back to plasticky/ rubber keyboards again! I'm rocking a Keychron hotswappable model for which I bought some Kailh Box Whites - love it
Nice, I'm getting my head (and fingers) around one of these:
Anyone got any recommendations for Mac layout mechanical keyboards?
