You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
got a workmate whos off to berlin with his missus for new year (30th dec - 2nd jan), theres 3 couples going. hes been spending a fair bit of time surfing the net to find something, but nothing booked yet. who better to ask than singletrack? 😉
any of you well-travelled folks been there and recommend somewhere for whatever reason? stipulations are they want somewhere thats going to be 'in and amongst it' and <£100 per night per room. theyre also not averse to a bit of history too so its a plus if its near touristy things, but.... its mainly the cafes/bars/nightlife theyre going for.
im always bigging this place up for knowledge, so please dont let me down 😉
cheers
I really liked this place when I stayed, quirky and very near happening part of town.
airbnb... loads on offer in Berlin for under 100€/night, and taht is for the flat, not pp/pn in a hotel.
easily fond somewhere to sleep three comfortably for under 200€/night.
look at Friedrichshain if he wants somewhere trendy. lots of bars, restaurants and clubs in the area, plus good connections to the rest of town.
Novum Hotel Aldea Berlin Zentrum.
It's 3* kind of accommodation, it's cheap and only 30 seconds / 2 minutes away from the main underground / metro stations.
If you want a luxurious weekend away, this isn't it. If you want want a reasonable place to stay and check out a new city... you can't go far wrong.
The Park Hotel Blub (yes that is its name!) is fantastic, and probably the cheapest 4* hotel you'll find anywhere.
Mrs SR and I stayed there for a week a couple of years ago, and found it an easy U-Bahn ride into Alexanderplatz, and in a neighbourhood filled with Russian bakeries and coffee houses.
I think it will hit and/or exceed what you are looking for.
Wot Alpin said.
I stayed here with work a few years back - quite nice and plenty to do around the hotel of an evening. U-bahn station nice and close too...

Couldn't tell you the price though!
Park Inn in Alexanderplatz. Not boutique and clearly a chain. But it is bloomin tall and quite nice. Request a stay in one of the higher floors for a great view of the city.
thanks a lot, thats given him a fair bit to go at, i knew you wouldnt disappoint 🙂
Don't forget that airbnb are currently subject to a court case to determine the legality of the lets in Berlin. Booking one may end with no accommodation nor money.
As for airbnb, a friend just attended an academic conference in Uppsala where he had booked through airbnb. The owner cancelled on him at the last minute, and he was left with no accommodation at all.*
*This may, of course, be indicative of nothing other than bad luck.
