Hi - I'm looking for a cottage for a long weekend / week at beginning October. Sifting through all the usual sites I thought "someone on STW will have a recommendation". Either Lakes or Nothumbria kinda way, close enough to a pub but remote-ish with access to low-level (kid friendly) walks. Budget isn't at the luxury end of things! To sleep 4 or 6.

What do you know?

This place was great - not technically in the Lakes so reasonably priced and has a very good pub virtually next door.

Highly recommended

St Giles Elterwater

Includes 4 passes for the langdale country club

Loads of walks and rides nearby both easy and hard. Good pub.

We stayed here last summer with some friends and a 1 year old.

Not got a pub nearby but there is a great beach a short walk away. Loads to do in the area and about a 15/20 min drive to Holy Island.

Newton by the Sea area is a good call pubs near by and beach on doorstep, flat around there so easy family walks.
