I've managed to shred a knee section of a pair of Fox Ranger pants in a crash (thankfully knee pads did their job).  The pants are pretty new and I'd like to patch them from the rear if possible.  They're a kind of khaki colour (Fox call it Bark) so I doubt i'll get a colour match.  What do you recommend for a quick, easy and robust repair?

Whichever of Mcnett's tenacious tape/patches best suits the damage: https://ukmcpro.co.uk/products/mcnett-tenacious-sealing-repair-patches

(Maybe cheaper elsewhere, first I found on google)

I shredded some goretex trousers on a thorn bush skiing. They were a right mess but I managed a pretty impressive repair using sugru glue. I basically taped them back together on the outside, then turned them inside out and rubbed the sugru on all the tears. I masked up the worst ones so now there is a kind of web of sugru strips on the inside that hold everything together. It worked pretty well and is very hard to see from the ouside, the still flex normally. Trousers were olive green and I used black sugru. Thir website explains it better than me!

There’s always this…

On a more sensible note, I tried to find someone selling abrasion-resistant Kevlar cloth, which is often used on biking gloves and the like, but it’s only available in large industrial amounts, I can’t find anyone who does smaller off cuts for DIY purposes.

Local seamstress on the high street? Worked wonders for me in the past. If the material can be scavenged from elsewhere on the garment it will remain looking roughly the same. I've had them remove the rear pocket and use as a patch and replacing the rear pocket with something from stock material. Once as well they used the internal pocket material as it matched the torn area!! Again used a cheaper in stock material to replace the pocket. Both repairs were around the £20 mark and completed in a few days.

I used an iron-on Mercia flag patch to cover a tear on my Rapha jersey (Rapha couldn't repair it but did very kindly send me a money off voucher).

Take them to your local clothing alterations place. I managed to hole a pair of my Hebroco canvas jeans which caused me some considerable distress. They did a near invisible repair from the inside for a tenner.

It’s not proper outdoor clothing until it’s repaired with gaffer tape.

it’s a fact that down jackets only actually work after gaffer tape is applied
