What's good? £30 or below if possible.

This question was asked recently and "Decathlon" was a popular answer, so I bought a couple yesterday and they seem pretty decent (not worn in anger yet). Warning if buying online - they run pretty small - I wear L in IceBreaker, but needed XL.

(I also tried on the hybrid merino- microfleece thingy and it itched like hell even in the seconds it was next to my skin in the changing room)

The Mountain Warehouse ones are pretty good, I think they've some polyester in the mix but IME that makes them less prone to holes. If you're really lucky they may have a sale on.

Supernatural on Sportpursuit, big sale, some base layers around £30.
I’ve got 2, had them ages, really comfortable.
Isobaa, they have on there too is the nicest, softest merino you’ll wear. Little bit more expensive I think.

(oh, also, to pre-empt subsequent posts, merino is shit, sweaty, itchy, don’t buy it etc)

This. Merino is an expensive con, useless for outdoor activity.

Yes. You should get bamboo instead 🙂

Perhaps we should feed a herd of merino sheep exclusively on bamboo shoots and create a new super (marketable) material.

Sure. Because every outdoor activity is the same, isn't it?
