So, this year me and the little lady are off in the van for New Year. Probably go on the 30th Dec and come back on the 1st Jan

Inspire me with ideas of somewhere to go. We'd be after somewhere that:

- is within two/three hours of Cirencester
- is picturesque
- is open
- has riding (doesn't need to be gnarr-core in the slightest, can be pootly off-road or country lane) or walking from the door.
- has a pub within walking distance
- has stuff to do or somewhere to go if the weather's rubbish

Have previously done Pencelli Castle near Brecon, may go there again unless we have a better idea...

We've stayed at Sparkhayes before, nice site, but it'd be good to try somewhere new.

It's not open at New Year

We just turned up and the nice old boy in the office opened the loos and switched our hook up on. Wouldn't take payment either so I ended up bunging a tenner in the mountain rescue box

I'm planning on doing something similar and Sparkhayes/Exmoor is on my list. I know the trails there reasonably well. We could organise an alt. SWT Xmas! daily XC rides, pubs crawls, uplift...

Funnily enough I was going to say Sparkhayes as well. Me and the wife are renting a cottage in porlock over Christmas week. Really looking forward to being able to just do our own thing this year.
