...other than Santander,

I was quiet happy with A&L but now its Santander it just seems a pain to do anything with them. Time to walk, who's is the best?

If you have a mortgage or any other borrowing, you'll be better off paying that back first....

Try martins money tips on the interweb.

PLenty of reasonable deals but you will have to move the money every year

Natwest have an online saver offering 2.89% (including a 1 year bonus) which is about as good as you'll get at the moment unless you want to fix in for a longer term. Anything 2.5%+ is acceptable at the moment.

Depends on how much £££ we're talking about.

The Lloyds TSB Classic current account with "Vantage" pays 4% interest on balances between £5-7K. And you can open three of 'em 🙂

Edit: to qualify for the 4% you need to pay in £1K each month but that £1K can be money you effectively move around so you can pay it in then immediately withdraw it.
