Hi friends.

With winter around the corner I am looking at investing in a pair of lightweight waterproof breathable cycling trousers.

Preferably not more than £50.

TIA

It’s a bit of a ‘strong, light, cheap’  conundrum .

I’ve bought cheap stuff in the past, realised it was shyte and then bought more expensive stuff and realised that is what is should have bought in the first place.

hope that helps 😁

Tried a few, ended up with waterproof shorts that go over knee pads, that tuck inside knee high sealskinz.

Sorted.

I got some Madison Tempest in the sales. So far they have been good. Are they any better than the army camo gortex I bought in 2007 and still use to walk the dog. Probably not.

Has anyone tried

Madison DTE Waterproof Trousers AW17

I'm looking at this post with interest and these seem to fit the bill but I could do with some real life experience reports! Fed up with half waterproof nonsense.

They're still available

Aren't they a bit baggy for cycling?

IME anything that involves bikes and trousers eventually gets chain detritus marks on the legs, and waterproof over the legs gets very sweaty very quickly

Nobeer has it - waterproof shorts, knee pads (or warmers) and waterproof socks - or if you are full on road commuting / riding then just wear bibs and make sure you have mudguards on your bike

Just read this review of the Berghaus on Amazon:

Impressive meteorological capabilities. I bought these to see if I could remain dry whilst on my motorbike. The way they work is quite remarkable and I'll be totally honest with you, it surprised me to find out. Since having these, it has rained before I get on the bike and it's rained shortly after I've arrived somewhere on the bike. Never when I'm actually riding. Impressive for a pair of over-trousers.

Rainlegs? They shouldn't get too sweaty anyway... https://www.rainlegs.com/

Forget about getting anything good for £50.  Spend more, or lower your expectations.
