Easy Jet have information in their site saying nothing inside a bike bag other than bike.

Has anyone flown with them recently(!) and know if they will allow a helmet, tools and some padding of clothing in there?
They had the same conditions last year when I flew with them (this was end of June 2019 from Edinburgh to Geneva). Kept the weight below the limit (32kg?) and they never looked inside. I had a few spares, pads, some clothes stashed in there.
We may have been lucky (a few of us travelling and all did the same) but it was not an issue. Who knows if things will change now though.
I always have helmet, shoes, tools, cleaning stuff in my box never had a problem only ever get asked about Co2 canisters which they allow 2 of in each item of luggage in the hold.
Thanks all. Showdown with an 18yr old determined that 'no means no'.
Part of me is proud he is so principled.
Part of me wants to stare at the sky muttering and grumbling incoherently.
Only been asked about co2 canisters, never had bag looked in.
standard helmet I've always strapped to my camalpak and taken on as hand luggage
That's always been EasyJet's stated policy.
I've always used pads and spare riding clothes as 'padding' for the bike but no one has ever looked in the bag.
As above.
Always put pads, pack, tools, spares, shoes and some riding gear in with the bikes.
Not even a problem on the very rare occasions that they've looked in the bag.
Always had clothes, helmet, shoes, tools etc in there. No one has ever asked or looked.
"Have you deflated the tyres?"
and
"Do you have any gas cans in there?"
are the only two questions I've ever been asked. That's with easyJet, Ryanair and BA.
Only trouble Abigale has had was over co2 canisters. She usually puts full face helmet and a spare tyre in hers and then what ever else she can to get up near the weight limit. Polite and a smile usually works.
I’m reading this with interest. We’re going to Spain with pure mountains in late sept. EasyJet flights
No one's ever looked. Flown several times. Just keep it underweight and remove lighters, lubes, anything flammable.
Took a group of 14 with EJ from Manchester to Iceland (return) late last summer. The bike bags were rammed with spares, tents, food etc but kept just below the 32kg limit. The security staff seemed to be interested in CO2 carts or oil (flammable items) but no one was bothered by the extra kit.
Always put all my spares and helmet etc. in bag. Cable tie zips closed so can't open them up at the counter. I only get asked about c02 and never have it anyway.
