Getting married in October, & not going on honeymoon till next year, so need a city break, or alternative for a get away..

Any recomendations??

The alternative was a holiday cottage on Skye, so if you know about Skye, please tell me the must see & do..

Go on a city break in October. It's great.

There you go.

I went to New York in October. Great month to go in my opinion!

My choice would be Florence. Very romantic.

I agree with the New York suggestion, but would also strongly strongly put Montreal on the table.

Montreal is spectacular anyway, but in October when the maples become scarlet red, there is nothing to beat it.

The city is something of a cross between New York and Paris.

Otherwise, try L'viv in Ukraine. It's also amazing (and very cheap).

Go stay in my mum's cottages on Skye - blatant plug.

Other than that, Amsterdam or Edinburgh.

Nah, did that as a Squaddie many a time... Looking for something a bit less, er, alcohol based..

That looks lovely, but if we are staying on Skye I'd want to take the dogs...

Amsterdam could be good... I lived there for a couple of years, and keep meaning to go back..

Rome. Still warm in October, very romantic, beautiful things to see and great food. Sounds like perfect hOneymoin material to me.

Mid-haul - Boston. Lovely little city, and beautiful in October.

Short haul - Barcelona, perhaps? Paris is also lovely at almost any time of the year.

What about Marrakesh?

Not too far away and it feels totally different to anywhere in Europe. Should still be warm, lots to do there and it's easy to organise a trip to the mountains or beach if you fancy it. Some rather fabulous food is available there too.

Did I mention Montreal? It's miles ahead of any of those other places. 😉
