My 10 and 6 yr olds have had a few sessions at the skate park and are keen to splash their Christmas dosh on decent scooters. They have old Argos specials but have been using hire ones as more sturdy, lighter etc. Looking online it seems that there are good ones to be had from around £80. Any pointers on what is good, bad, bargains ?

madd scooters seem to be all the rage at my local skate park........................... but my advise is to make them ride a bmx instead most the scooter kids just ride round in circles round the park. and even the good ones look a bit silly and just genreally get in the way

my kids age 6 and 9 are into scooters and they ride Grit and Razor ,

the other good ones are MGP .

as they re quite young i did not want to leave them on their own at skatepark so after a few boring sessions watching them , i decided to join them . I now have a Grit scooter . dont see many 38 year old on a scooter though .

I dont like the feel of the Razor , but this is very personal .

just look for good wheels and bearings , 3 or 4 bolt clamps etc...

they can be customized like bikes .

it is great fun .

MGP are the coolest. According to the 11 year old lads at the skatepark round here.

Our 2 are on JD Buggs - discounted to £60 on Amazon.
Just don't buy the orange 'cos it's pink!

JD Buggs seconded. My kids are enthralled with them, and Argos is currently selling one model regular 99 for 40.

My boys are mad for scooters especially the older one. You will need...

Custom Bars
Threadless forks and headset
Compression system and clamp
uber wheeels of some sort
One piece deck and stem
ODI grips etc etc

Or just get a grit/mgp/slamm/blunt off the peg

Also colour blindness seems all the rage!!

JD bug has proved robust at our skatepark. Avoid anything with hinges.
