On the back of another road rage thread.
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced dashcam please?
I have two cars parked close by that need one each.
TIA
I've just got one of these for Mrs C's new car, dead cheap and seems OK so far.
It's teeny tiny which means it doesn't obscure the screen. Going to got it wired in at a garage but I've got it plugged into the USB for the time being. Just need to be patient running the wire around.

Whichever Nextbase one is on special offer at Halfords.
Not because they're the best ones or anything but the hardwire kit is commonly available and is a piece of piss to fit yourself.
Hardwiring is essential if you don't want to be faffing with it all the time.
Get one which records at the highest frame rate you can find. It's easier to pick out details which occur at speed if you record 60 FPS as opposed to 24 FPS.
I put Garmin minis in my car F&R as they are v small, and get good reviews, they were cheap from John Lewis when I bought them as well.
only real downside is no gps built into them, but really, I wasn't that bothered by it.
Is that really called an apeman?! For recording neanderthal road rage drivers?
NextBase is the correct answer.
thanks all
I've got a NextBase something or other. Was going cheap at Argos a year back. Has GPS and a screen and that's about it. Easy to hardwire in. Only issue I had was the suction cup mount was rubbish and would fall off if it was very hot or cold. So I bought some aftermarket stick on mounts for a few quid. Much better and a lower profile so it's nicely mounted behind the rear view mirror.
TBF the nextbase hardwire kit will work on pretty much any dashcam that uses a USB connection.
TechMoan used to be a good source of reviews but seems like it's not been updated for a while http://www.techmoan.com/what-is-the-best-dashcam/
Any new advice on this topic? New models might have arrived, and mine has failed this morning.
High frame rate over high res, (720 at 60FPS is what I use now)
GPS would be nice this time.
As would a parking monitor.
Not bothered about WiFi or Bluetooth
No rear view camera as it's in a van.
Not dead expensive
Yep, I think that pretty much covers it. Thanks.
Still Nextbase, suction cup can still be flaky and the battery is crap but ours is working fine. Pretty sure the higher tier (better framerate) models come with a separate rear cam so you can avoid that.
Same answer, nextbase hardwired in (so easy to do) Just don’t expect it to work with the nextbase app, it is woeful. The cameras are excellent though
The current one is hardwired in, so as long as it's micro USB that's not an issue, (I ought to check that). My current Yi branded one has/had an app but I didn't bother installing it on my latest phone, happy to bung the SD card in my laptop on the odd occasion there's been some need.
Do the Nextbase ones have a standard camera mount thread on top? That'd even mean it will work with the existing stick-on mount.
Recommend me a Reasonably Priced Dashcam
seems to = Recommend me the Highest Priced Brands of Dashcam to most people 🤪
I’ve got a nextbase something or other, was about 90 quid from amazon including a 128gb mini sd card.
Easy to mount, i stuck mine on because the suction cup was pretty bulky, the app for it does work, but it’s slow, and not intuitive to use, far easier to pull the card and stick it in the laptop if necessary.
Works fine, footage is good enough.
