I'm just about to purchase a new van that will be used for work purposes. I have always had a front facing dashcam in my previous vehicles(all vans) and was hoping to install a rearward facing one in this one (Renault Traffic) . All rearward cams seem to either peer through the rear window either being mounted on the window or or the camera. Seeing as this is not possible on barn doors are there any other options. My google skills have drawn a blank. Ideally I don't want to be drilling holes to mount unless it's in the bumper and if it worked with my Nextbase camera that would be a bonus.Nextbase do a rear cam but it's self adhesive / magnet affair. Ps this is pure about a rearward camera and not a dashcams are a waste on money thread. 😎 Â
Can you install an external camera pod on the roof, there looks to be lots of plastic trim so drilling that would not be so bad (i.e. you could get a spare piece)? How amount a number plate surround mounted camera? I've seen those available for reversing cameras before. Any scope to fit something where the high level third brake light is? Final suggestion is a bit more long shot, does it have dual reverse light windows in the rear light clusters but only one actual reverse lamp. Could a camera go in there a see out through the light.
There's some ideas here... Dunno how practical they are though!

Our barn door Transporter has a little camera mounted in the rear reg plate surround that feeds into the Wolfbox "rear view mirror", and I can heartily recommend. It was an absolute pain in the hoop to run the cable though, took me the best part of a day.
Whatever you get make sure the cable is long enough, they tend to supply long enough for your average estate but might not be enough for a van.
