Warning: I am IT-illiterate.

Why can't I import music from CD Roms into the Windows Moviemaker software that I am using to try to make films from my Go Pro? And as for trying to do it from Itunes.....!!

Grrrrr. I really am hopeless at this sort of stuff!

Depends on what format you have the music in on the CD-ROM.

Can you explore the CD-ROM and find out?

Yeah, I Pook has it. Use mediaplayer of something to rip the CD track to MP3 first, then import it.

Errr, it came up with some odd-looking thing called Roxio Creator Classic when I put it in the D Drive. But that says .m4a on the "Data disc project" whatever that is.

Actually the file manager I opened shows .cda just to confuse things.

I feel 100 years old!

Errr 😀

You can probably change the settings to MP3 in the Roxio options, but try it as the m4a file file first, that's just a audio file type that the Windows moviemaker might handle. I'll have a look in a mo, just making a brew.

You want milk and sugar??

Windows Mediaplayer is the Windows built in music and video player, like moviemaker is the built in video editing software. Mediaplayer can also 'rip' the original CD track, (your .cda files) to MP3 or some other formats that Windows can use more easily.

Supported formats for importing content
Video files: .asf, .avi, .wmv
Movie files: MPEG1, .mpeg, .mpg, .m1v, .mp2
Audio files: .wav, .snd, .au, .aif, .aifc, .aiff
Windows Media files: .asf, .wm, .wma, .wmv
Still images: .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe, .jfif, .gif
MP3 format audio: .mp3

Here's some info Clicky

Edit, which by the looks of it means your m4A file won't work. It'll have to be MP3 or one of those Audio file or Windows Media File types instead.

My e-mail's in my profile if you want a hand. Movie maker's functional enough, I did this on it recently but on a slow computer it take AAAAGGGGEEEEESSSS to load the video files, so much so in fact you may think the computer has crashed.
