No. Not that.

Simple things that give a satisfying sense of achievement.

Such as;

Splitting logs.

Polishing silver.

Yep that gives a big amount of satisfaction.

The more danger the more satisfaction.

Mrs putting the washing or bins out? Great.

Extended family coming round in 15 seconds time on easter sunday, priceless.

Over the last 3 days I’ve split logs, dug some big holes, mowed lawns, shifted straw bales, shifted tons of aggregate, bark and soil, and jet washed flags and a patio.....None have left me feeling satisfied

maybe I should’ve been w***ing whilst doing each task

Folding clothes neatly and stacking them in order of size! Not socks though, i couldn't care less if they are inside out or mismatched.

Sending an email correcting someone who has accused you of making an error, making sure they have copyied in every man and his dog, and pointing out that the accuser has made an error, copying in the same people they have.

Cutting the wife's hair off the brush bar on the vacuum cleaner?!

Cleaning the car properly, that 'once every two years' clean where you clean the inside glass and even lower the windows so the top centimeter is clean, and washing inside the door shuts where all the road grind normally collects...

removing and rewrapping old bar tape and ending up with a perfect job. Did it yesterday, still feeling smug 24 hours later.

Putting a new inner cable on, and pushing the mech in just so before pulling the inner tight and pinching up the bolt, and getting it bang on with no cheating by using the barrel adjuster 🙂

Digging out splinters from my hands…

Off topic but i'm reminded of this.  Last year I helped a friend rebuild a fence - well, helped her dad rebuild it whilst she stood onlooking being 'helpful.'  After the job was done my hands were a mess of really small splinters.

I cracked out my SAK and started having at my hands with a mixture of blades and tweezers.  "What are you doing?" she asked.  "Removing splinters," I replied.  "Oh," she says, "do you get those?"  Umm, what?  It's not a disease...

On another thread, they are discussing buffing wood with walnut oil! They haven't said if it satisfies them though!

Discharging batteries properly, that gets my jobsworth gland flowing

Recently worked up the courage to take some 7 billion grit wet and dry to a couple of scratches on my car, then give it a full compound and polish.

After the initial shock-horror the gloss started to come back a little bit and the final results were very satisfying. I’ll need to maybe revisit a couple of small areas but I’m very glad I took the time.

edit: the satisfaction is dulled a little when I feel my back twinging from doing the sills and bumper; I don’t know how people do it for a living.

Giving stables a full, floor-lifting, bank-turning, new-shavings muck-out. Pretty reluctant to actually let the horses in after that as I know they'll never really appreciate it..

Well they might not appreciate the clean floor, but you know they like shitting on it.
