I have some DVDs that I would like to watch on my phone.
Some of them are films, some of them are TV series with a number of episodes on each disc.
Despite being reasonably technically competent, I struggle with this kind of thing. Ideally, I'd like to out a DVD in the tray, plug my phome into the USB, press a single button and either get 'Starship Troopers' or 6 episodes of 'Early Doors' on my phone.
Can this be done really, really simply?
Easiest way I found to do it was to rip the dvd into itunes via handbrake, and then from itunes to my 5800 via the nokia transfer software.
The nokia software does the necessary conversion from mpeg. Took forever though, and isn't something I'd want to be doing regularly.
The was some software out there for it that'd play mpeg's but I wasn't bothered enough to put my hand in my pocket for it.
Oh, this was all Mac based by the way.
This kind of thing defeats me too, watched many a film for a few minutes on my ipod....in French etc.
I use Videora, am not aware of anything simpler.
I'll give Handbrake a try then.
If I can get them to mpeg, I can get them on my phone.
DVDDecrypt is pretty handy, too...
DVDVideoSoft's stuff is really useful for converting files between formats.
You might be better using a card reader (assuming it'll be stored on a SD card or similar in the phone?). Transfers always take an age with the card in situ.

True, but if you convert the file to a .3gp it should be smaller than a .mp4 - I have a 1hr 25min .3gp colour film which is 203mb (it's 522mb as a .mp4), and I doubt that the quality will be visibly different on a phone screen. Takes a couple of minutes to transfer to my phone via cable.
<hijack>Anyone know if a Sony Ericsson C902 will be able to use a 16gb card? My 8gb card is nearly full - Amazon advertisers seem to think it will. Thanks!</hijack>

Yup, exactly. Seems like a lot of hassle but mostly it's just waiting.
