Haha One of the most humiliating football results ever! Just shows even employing a Prem reject manager can't paper over the cracks in scotch football. Beaten by a bunch of part timers lol
Couldn't have happened to a nicer club though, the piece of dog dirt on the shoe of British football.
Lincoln Red Imps will live long in the memory 🙂

Really Brendan?

No particularly, it'll give the yahoo's something to moan about, but it's still preseason. Any celtic fan that's been paying attention for the last 2 years should know how shit we are.

There's talent there, but that was essentially Rodgers first game to suss it out properly and actually learn something about this mob. That there is ground zero. Over to him build a team from it. 🙂

As with any new celtic manager, after we take a few off this mob at celtic park, I wouldn't be getting too excited about CL football this year. Europa at best is likely imo. (He'll be doing better than any new celtic manager if he manages that.)

It'll take him another 4 months to get properly running.

So nah no embarrassment at all. would be an embarrassment if we we're in anyway near our full strength, but we aren't, won't be for a good while yet.

bloodynora that was uncalled for. No-one is interested seriously!

seosamh77 I hope that Celtic are better than this. My team (MCFC) have loaned Celtic a great kid (Patrick Roberts) and I hope that he is going to develop and not stagnate. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on him and also Jason Denayer who was loaned to you a couple of seasons ago.

Not going to make any more comments about the result as City have to play a qualifier to get to the group stage.

We are better, well least we can be, we're a very jekkyl and hide type of team, you don't really know which one has been going to turn up over the past year, and that's taken it's toll, so that's going to take a wee bit to break out from.

Basically once Rodgers susses out the shit and moves them on and adds in a few new players, we'll start looking the part, imo. It'll take time though and it won't change over night.

You've one qualifier, we've another 2 to get through after this(assuming there is an after)! 😆

As for Roberts, aye he's been looking good, still young and raw and needs to strengthen up a but, but he's fast, can take on player and is direct, I'd expect him to play a significant part in the season coming.

Though he's not featured preseason so far, so I don't know what's going on there. I would hope he's in Rodgers plans going forward. He should have played tonight, so I suspect maybe struggling with an injury or something but haven't heard anything to that, so dunno. He showing his commitment to us this year aswell by opting to take part in the qualifiers rather than go to the Euro under 19s.

Any Celtic fan will speak well of him basically.

Denayer was superb for us, him and van dijk were solid, and losing the pair of them at the same time is really what ripped the heart out of us. Losing that centre half pairing is still a major source of our troubles(not them all, they cascaded as a result of that, but that where it all started, we really need atleast 1 centre half, I'd take Denayer back in a heart beat, Ronny Deila was clueless as to how to replace them and that started the rot.)

Shit happens, thems the breaks when you're a selling team. Just the realities of modern football. The days of the 90s and early 2000s of us being able to compete with English wages and fees are long gone. Then we weren't far away, now there's 4/5/6 clubs in the championship with as much financial clout as us, every EPL team has a higher turnover.

Like I say, real fitba is back, with all it's ups and downs! 🙂

Thanks for the updates. I felt a bit for Denayer being pulled into a dodgy Belgium defense at the Euros. I'm hoping that he can establish himself in our squad this season.

Good luck for the coming year 😀

Ah yes, the green brigade are a wonderful bunch. Anti-Semitic/Pro-IRA chanting/Mocking dead soldiers during Remembrance Sunday. Thank God real football and real fans are back, and this year we are treated to the return of old firm bigotry..Rangers should've went to the wall for their tax shenanigans, and left Celtic disappear into obscurity along with the rest of Scottish football. Give the rest of us in the West a break from your shite.

Hilarious result,..

This gives me some hope that the league this year might be quite interesting. Robbie Neilson is doing a good job at Hearts, hopefully the Don's have now got a decent keeper and Derek decides which of his centre backs are best gives them a chance to build an understanding. Who knows what Rangers V2 will do but I reckon they'll take some points off Celtic.

I'm not excusing anything. Just suggesting we're not all ginger haired, string vest wearing, Buckie swilling, knife wielding, religious bigots. I'm not an old firm fan and think the game up here would be better off without them but football has a tribal following and there are plenty of problems elsewhere. It's not that long ago English teams were banned from Europe and England fans seem to have difficulty keeping out of trouble.

I am not english I don't follow football, just amazed at the hatred spouted.

When I worked at the Hub a guy wouldn't buy a 20 inch frame Kona because it was green 🙄 It was the only bike that would fit him we had.

Maybe because I was looking at it as an outsider and had no prior knowledge of how sectarian things are I was really shocked.

I think Brendan has riled a few of the "greatest fans in the world" with the "no embarassment" comment - if I were a Celtic fan i'd be slightly concerned that he's put Effe Ambrose straight into his starting 11 in his first competitive game - an important one at that, i'm a Rangers fan & wouldn't even pick him for a Celtic team as a joke 😆

Still, should be an interesting season - Hearts & Aberdeen were looking good last season whilst Celtic have gone backwards in the last few years, having seemed to have accrued a 40-odd strong squad of "meh"

Onward & upwards 😉

On the subject of behaviour - T in the park has had a total of ~250000 people over the weekend - 4/5 home games for either of the old firm (if you use the Seville calculator for Celtic that is 😉 ) & so far there's been 3 deaths, a suspected rape, an ATM nicked with £50000 in cash in it, mass riots, countless arrests for drugs / violence... at least they didn't have Coldplay I suppose... so a few bawbags calling each other names at the football starts to look a bit less outrageous.

Mcj89, aye the Yahoo's that thought he'd come in and put out a CL winning team I 4weeks are a tad upset. As I say anyone that knows Scottish fitba knows the stagnation Celtic have gone through over the last year. But alot of that is to do with the wrong team getting picked and sticking with something that doesn't work.

Efe, being one, he really should just walk, brown and biton are another 2 that just don't work, they offer very little in creativity , soon as Rodgers realises that we'll improve significantly. But he's just in the door, he's some quick lessons to learn though.

Tbh I dunno what Rodgers was thinking last night, I'd guess he's still guilty of being in preseason mode so last night was essentially a preseason team, and he's still testing things which will continue for a while yet. As come on, any team should beat to be Lincoln. So last night was good as it showed me fundamental flaws that have be glaring for a long while. Anyhow. I believe you'll only learn in competitive games so the sculpting of a team starts now. He should have learned more last night than the previous 4 preseason games.

Must admit with yourselves up, along with Aberdeen and hearts looking not bad, I think it should be a cracking season this year.

I can see us being slow starters. But the league's all about longevity. 🙂 So don't get too comfy. 😉

Ps people shouting about worst game in our history, nonsense, that was letting a poor 1st division rangers into the Scottish cup final. That was criminal.

Celtic fans should ponder that too, to see where we are starting from here.

Sums up how p*ss poor Scottish football is, last week Aberdeen loose to some dross and now Celtic show up to put in an even worse performance. Utter, utter sh*t.

Until Scotland put aside its deep rooted issues and get the clubs to realise the best way forward is a proper center of excellence, then they'll drift in ever more obscurity.

Dragon, nothing will sort Scottish fitba until there's some sort of financial revolution in europe. In other words it's not going to happen, deal with were we are as that's it.

Though you can't complain to much. In Scotland Celtic do the same to the smaller clubs in scotland as is happening to us at a euro level. Ie corner the market and hoover up all the cash

No excuse for last night though, that was just abysmal, there are no excuses! 😆

Oh Scotland are far, far worse. For Stirling they've got Anya, who can't get a game at Watford. As for strikers there best is probably Naismith who can't get a game at Norwich. The rest are mostly Championship players. Without a shadow of doubt this lot are the worst Scottish team for decades and possibly the worst ever.

3-0 🙂 that'll do, should've been much more, treated the second half as a preseason game basically.

still astana up next, should prove a tough game for us I reckon. managed 4 draws in their CL group last year, 2 x galatasary, atletico madrid and befica, so really need to step it up from this!

😆 or just completely tongue in cheek!

Well aware of the mountain that lies ahead, it was nice beating rangers, but they're miles off the pace, will take them a few years to get back something recognisable I reckon, longer if they keep signing over paid nonsense like sanderos(lost the plot), barton (completely ineffective) and kranjcer(utterly useless).

Plus we're still a fair old whack off the pace too(though improving by the game, was really nice to see demebele announce his arrival properly yesterday)..

a 2-0 defeat would be a decent result on tuesday! (I'd like a goal mind!)

I do fancy an upset in 1 out of the 3 home games mind you, a bouncing celtic park can still spring up a surprise every now and then.

The CL, for us, is really just a barometer of how far behind we really are. I'm not completely writing off 3rd place though, it is possible. 🙂 I live in hope!

City fan here. I am in two minds about whether having Celtic in our group is a good thing or not. The atmosphere at the games should be fantastic but Celtic are one of the most dangerous low seeded teams as they have shown when playing Barcelona in recent years.

Hopefully the fans will get on ok but lots of Celtic fans also seem to like Manyoo so taking nothing for granted.

Will definitely be at The Etihad for the home leg.

Celtic and City will get on fine, canny see any bother really. Celtic fans like everybody(well most ), so I wouldn't read too much into the man u stuff! plus we seem to have more of a connection to yourselves these days taking players of you!

fyi, roberts just coming back from injury, so having to fight his way back into the team. came on second half and done well yesterday. he'll play a part in the CL(though he'll face competition form a resurgent forrest for a spot in the team I reckon, though possibly rotation, get the best out of both of them.). I'd expect us to try and buy him off you at some point, or atleast extend the loan deal.

Rogers is no mug either, he will be well aware of the experience of playing top premiership and beating them. Resting players against them may be a wee bit daft. Anyway enough of this top table shite, Scottish teams in the CL isn't "real fitba" Dundee United; three games unbeaten!

We aren't coming up this year, team has no spine and no leaders,play-offs are a fair target. Killie aren't the team I would like to see come down, that would be the bar-stewards from across the road. Ideally from going into administration again with Hartley being caught shagging a goat in an elaborate tabloid sting.

Well there's your answer a million miles away from the top clubs. Rogers can dress it up all he likes but 7-0 is horrific and an embarrassment. The worrying thing is that Celtic are the best Scotland has to offer.

Fair play to Celtic great performance from them. I think the atmosphere might have got to some of the City players but they did well to level quickly three times.

Probably the least Pep like performance from City since he arrived. Hopefully the return game will be as good as I will be there 😀

Aye it did, first 10 minutes I thought you were rattled, it's done it to many great teams, it's the inabilltiy to communicate easily that causes it I reckon... It's the sole reason we've the home record we don't really have a right to have, and an away record that is utterly honkin. (It's a trend that goes away back to our first european games.)

Away to city, tbh I'd expect you'll win by a few. We're still early in the development of this celtic team, I don't think it's even close to mature enough to get an away result at big places. (Hopefully I'm proved wrong!)

Great watch tonight though, can argue about the quality, but great games aren't always about technically perfect fitba! 🙂
