What on earth is the catch with Readly - I can now read a few of my magazines for a fraction of the cumulative individual cost (which i will cancel)? No fancy app and i tend to read on the PC.
Is it the magazine version of Spotify - where magazines such as 'The Cyclist' get a fraction of revenue back or is it so mass market that it makes it worth it for them?
I've been using it for a while now, and still feel guilty... I looked at Magzter too but their range of magazines was smaller.
I live abroad and this allows me to read loads of magazines that I would never have subscribed to, or even been able to get delivered..
I have to assume that it is official, there must be some revenue going back to the publishers but I struggle to see how it works economically too.
I haven't looked into it but Spotify hasn't made a profit ever has it? Maybe this is the same..?
Don’t think there is a catch... you can get them all free with Apple One too, and even properly free if you have a library card I think, on some scheme or another. Just not a medium that’s worth much any more... I suspect the price you pay at the newsstand just really covers printing/distribution. With the online versions you still get the adverts, I guess that’s the whole point.
