I'm getting an area off the roof re-slated, and I'd like to put the slate coming off to some use? One thought I have is to use it for a patio. I'm moving the bike shed soon, which will free up the concrete base that I poured for it as a patio area, 8x12" approx. I'm thinking I could use the slates like a tile?.
Any one tried this, or any other uses?
I'm also planning on building a pizza oven this year, if I have enough I may clad the outside of the base as well.

They might be a bit thin / fragile for a patio, I dug up some Victorian Slate used as flower bed edging, it was 1" thick!
