I was never a fan early on, and then I began listening to his Trews News things for a while but he always (for me) erred on ‘unbearable’. He’s verbose and quick-witted I’ll give him that and he even takes a fair shot (at least) at appearing empathic and genuinely concerned with issues. But I remained a skeptic of Brand. Thinking was he just a fey and cynical bad-faith actor/opportunist masquerading as a cheeky good-faith actor/blighter? ‘Not one of us’ pretending to be ‘one of us’. The mark of the political actor? Maybe I was being too harsh? His self-deprecation must be real at least? It’s a disarming thing to admit one’s bigger weaknesses and flaws in public. I cut slack.
But his latest youtube gig I see is to jump on the ‘great reset’ WEF ‘conspiracy theory’. Not to debunk it/deconstruct/examine it - no, but to make it/himself popular by spreading it/playing to the antivaxxer/plandemic/itsamarxistplot/CHINUH!/climate-change-denier crowd.
I think Brand lost my last shred of possible respect at this point. Pushing conspiracy theories is actually dangerous and makes the world worse for all of us?

His autobiography wasn't half as bad as I was expecting, but it sounds like I will not be watching his Youtube channel. Maybe he's back on the smack...?

I always find that he has the ability to use 20 long words when 4 short ones will do, does fancy his self as a wordsmith but there never seems to be a good reason for the words other than to make himself appear smart(arsed)

Say what you may about his image & rhetoric in the public eye but I tell you honestly he's very genuine person with a huge giving heart and does work that I hope none of you will ever be in a place to appreciate or need.

I grew up in the same place as him.... Fair play that he escaped. His vocabulary ain't bad, given the area. Probably would have got him punched for being "smart".
Russell brand is an outlier he has lived a life that has a unique prospective. He knows fame, fortune, marriage to a pop star, drug and sex addiction. Etc etc
I have to commend his sincerity and bravery in the way he shares his experience and thought process so openly.
Do his views and opinions align with mine yes some of the time but sometimes not. But is that any different to other public figures, journalists? Piers etc

To my shame I actually liked one of his TikToks that I randomly stumbled on, where he was imparting the wisdom that the best way to deal with your nerves at a meeting is to think about how you can help the other people present.
So perhaps he is best taken in very small doses, like foppish motivational poster.

I can buy into the idea that our world systems need rebalanced. Does that mean that that I have to like Russel Brand as I find him intensely smug and irritating.
