So, Mrs Stonster suggests we would like rattan furniture for the garden. My extensive research seems to suggest it can vary from a few hundred pounds to several thousand. (Or on facebook marketplace for about £74. Obviously).

Question is - what's the quality difference between a £250 set and a £2500 set? Do they last longer? Are they made better? Or is someone just making a lot of money?

Aby experience? Anyone suggest a decent mid-price source?

I'd guess the cheap stuff is just wicker style but made from some sort of plastic, which is bad for the environment and will be knackered after a couple of years.

Are we talking proper rattan or the plastic look-a-like rattan? My wife was after said patio set and looked at local garden centre, all upwards of £1500, these were plastic woven all weather numbers with water resistant cushion pads. Anyway, she ended up getting a set from, shush, Amazon 😱 for about £600. To be fair, they still look good after being out for three years, we just put the cushions away if it looks like rain.

Yeah, the plastic rattan stuff. I don't think actual rattan can be left outside.
Thanks neila - was there any difference between the garden centre and the Amazon quality?

Don't go for stuff you have to assemble yourself and only look at aluminium framed sets.

Some of ours is about 8 years old and is fine other than where one of the dogs had a chew when she was a puppy 🙄

We are also looking for some and are equally unsure. We do appear to have settled on either LG or Bramblecrest but find their pricing eye-watering. Surely so long as the frame is aluminium and the rattan stuff is plastic that's it, or is it?
