hi,
just checked my oil ( on an older berlingo ) and I pulled it out - checked it - wiped it and inserted it for a 2nd check - pulled out and this is the funny bit - the dip stick came out minus the plastic end which had sheared off...
I now have the 4cm or so bit of plastic stuck probably at the bottom of the tube...
now is this likely to migrate and wreck the oil pump / worse or are there filters / strainers in the way - I have rang the local garage but its on answer phone...
help please as I have a 3 hr journey tonight...

If it's a tu (1.4 or 1.6) petrol it'll be fine.
Put a new dipstick in. (It's modified with a wire core)
The old one'll drop out of the tube into the bottom of the sump and live there quite happily.
Or if it bugs you that much whip the sump off and remove it.
