Yeah I think so.. I assumed it was to do with the price-capo change, the facr I submitted meter readings on the 1st October around teh price cap change, that I'd taken out a fixed price tariff at about that time and had an actual person come and read my smart meters (?!) around then too!

Maybe its just them adjusing usage/dates/rates once info is actually available.

The whole energy market is so opaque I now ignore any esitimated usage or quotes supplied by energy companies, and use comparison sites to check agains actual historical usage....

I think they're called 'beaks' rather than 'bill's'.

Mine went beserk this month. One day we have a small positive balance, the next it's grown to more than £600 credit!
Some investigation showed that in May they decided to ignore the night units used and not charge or them on the bill. The reading page was doing things correctly but come billing time they had lost around one third of the charge.

when I left octopus I gave them meter readings and paid my final bills. About 12 months later I got a bill showing about £800 debit, £800 credit. Fine, should be zero balance. Nope, apparently I owed them £400. It took about 6 months to sort out, even their own customer service team couldn’t explain the bill (didn’t stop them fighting me to pay it though)

That sounds familiar - but with nPower or British Gas.

It seems the (crazy) way of the system

Yes, I got the random Octopus bill too.

Comparing to Bulb, the Octopus billing system is confusing.
