Saw the Queen film yesterday and have to admit did enjoy it, Rami Malek playing Freddy was very convincing to me. Don't watch too many films so i'm fairly easy to please, expecting the serious film goers on here to be like the film critics and say it was pish
it does look like an enjoyable film
Went into it with fairly low expectations but thought it was excellent. Rami's performance was great; I found it quite emotional actually which is very unusual for me with a film!
He's pretty good in Mr Robot too.
^^^ Wot he said. Mr R is brilliant...
I really enjoyed Mr Robot Season 1, season 2 dragged on a bit I thought. Wife won't watch Season 3, so not seen that yet.
Also pretty good as Snafu back in the day (The Pacific)

I almost gave up midway through season 2. It does pick up in Season 3. Persevere.
Looking forward to the Queen film and also second the comments about Mr. Robot.
I kept on falling asleep during series 2.
But she's sooo pretty! How can he have been a gay?
Looks bloody awful, speaking as a non-Queen fan. I saw a preview thing on Film4 yesterday and all I could focus on were the false teeth. So, no I won't even watch it when it appears on telly.
(Note: That is called an opinion. There is no reason why others shouldn't enjoy it 😆 )
Personally avoiding it due to Bryan Singer's involvement...
BR ... Is a brilliant film...... Thoroughly entertaining.
Yes its a bit of a sickly sweet 12a ( but honestly how much sex, drugs and debauchery do you need to see) and a little Spinal Tap in places. But it makes up for that in Malik performance and the songs... You'll see the songs in new light and will appreciate them all the more.... (not a big queen fan BTW)
Looking forward to the Elton John biopic and if thats is as good i'm hoping other iconic bands/performers release their stories ... and more importantly for me, the stories of their biggest hits.
Go see it.
I saw the Queen film tonight... Meh.
.apparently they didn't write we will rock you till 1980!</span></div>
.the band weren't angry at Freddie's solo album, they ****ing played on it.
.nice touch the 'Hot Space' silver disc on the Wall next to all the golds. .the whole movie stinks of Brian May, he's stamped his opines all over it.
.it shits all over John Deacon. ..well a bit .. redeems a little but is still generally crappy towards him. .that bit with the press conference was cringey as fuk.
some lovely sequences though, loved the start and the whole Live Aid(s) bit was good. Too much Freddie canoodling about with Mary. Not enough drugs. Not enough ROCK. plus he lived for 6 more years after Live Aid. What about Kind of Magic and the Miracle? No bicycle race either lol, meh. It's good, go and see it, it's a 3 star movie but with Queen songs in.. 4 stars! (out of 5 btw)
Needed more drugs and rent boy destruction.
Rocket Man is also directed by Dexter Fletcher who finished BR. He also did the Eddy the Eagle too. Both films had a lot of revisionism, hopefully, Rocket Man won't.
I actually didn't mind the fact BR played a bit loose with the exact chronology. It's not meant to be a documentary. It captured the essence of the band/events which is more important IMO. I doubt John Deacon had any involvement but I think they were respectful to him... he was always the "quiet one" so gets a bit of ribbing for this but they also show him as the sensible one that holds the rest of the band together, as well as coming up with the AOBTD bassline etc. Saying it "shits all over" him is a bit harsh, and wrong IMO. Don't disagree that Brian May has had a massive hand in it, it's as much his band as it was Freddies' though so don't know that it's a bad thing... god knows what it would have been like WITHOUT any band involvement!
I also disagree that it's light on sex & drugs etc, yes most of it is implied rather than shown explicitly to make it more family friendly but there are subtle nods - even the dwarves are in it - if you know the stories it's all in there!!
To be honest I expect Rocket Man to be the same or play even more fast & loose - the tagline is "Based on a true fantasy" after all. Might not be a bad thing though.
Elton John?? Why oh why are people interested in him? Not done an even vaguely decent song since the 70s, except for the kind of stuff pensioners like. Has a ****ing awful voice. Utterly baffling. Wonder if they'll pretend Renata was the love of his life (really) And his hair's probably real too. Barf.
Im guessing you haven't seen Elton live? I'm not keen on his last 35 years music but as a perfomer with a cracking band with a huge back catalogue. I saw him at Ibrox a few years ago when Billy Joel packed in after 20 mins, glad he did
seen him live? 😆 I'd rather never hear any music ever again.

...
Hmm, nope, you still haven't explained the interest.
Have to admit that I thought the same when I saw the Elton John film trailer last night...wtf would want to see that?!
At this rate, I doubt we’ll ever find out who killed Bambi.

If they confined it to the 70s with the good tunes/drugs and made it a Gilliam-esque mind-bending fantasy trip it could be fantastic!! 😀
Agree with Ro5ey, BR is a cracker, looking forward to Rocket man too.
RM incredibly believable, had a tear in my eye at the end, and didn't want to leave the cinema while the end credits rolled.
I was 16 when the great man passed, and in hospital with a broken hip. Ward sister had the place covered in queen posters, seems like yesterday....
Nobeer, i was in my 20s,
my wife worked in a factory with a woman who had no idea who FM was, had never heard of queen, didn’t recognise bohemian rhapsody..
unbelievable . .
i actually feel sorry for her tbh.
I saw him at Ibrox a few years ago when Billy Joel packed in after 20 mins, glad he did
FFS, Billy Joel sucked even when he was young, I can only shudder to think what he must sound like now. I imagine Elton John is well past his best, but at his peak he was head and shoulders better than Billy Joel.
Won't be going to see the film ..I saw the band live in the early days when they were a credible rock band ..what they morphed into left me feeling sick ..bubble gum pop band with dross like Radio Gaga , We Are The Champions etc 🤮..but if thats your thing ..enjoy !
Elton John is a caricature of himself and getting caricatureyerer by the day. I'll pass... 😄
Swooning at the rock gods.... 🤣
the great man...
Swooning at the rock gods
Certainly sounds like you have been.
