if you have some spare time, THIS is worth watching.

just raising self awareness, watched this last weekend and kinda made me think of my (our) spending habits and i'm (we're) about to make big changes around the house in this regard. "be the change you want to see in the world."

Thanks for this, we always need reminding that we're doing alright out of someone else's misery.

Will watch tonight.

Oh the ironing, they want money to watch a film about how bad it is making money!

Where's the profit in that!

Looks utterly depressing and also just states the bleedin obvious if you ask me. You can't tell me that anyone thought capitalism / globalisation ever had any intention of doing anything other than exploiting the poor. And it turns out it's very good at doing that.

Short of buying/wearing Kiwami everything (the only company I'm aware of that makes things locally with workers paid a living wage), what am I supposed to wear?

Hemp sackcloths stitched by your local lesbian worker's cooperative.

Knit yourself a hair shirt.

Found this interesting--it also benefits from being short and free and not as depressing as you think it's going to be

Those who produce documentaries about the effects of global capitalism/consumerism should both fund it themselves and offer the fruit of their labour for free, otherwise ironing.

That should do it.

PS * Monsanto. * them very much.

Thanks OP for this, after watching it just to say I echo your thoughts and feelings.

I found it grievous, educational, illuminating, shaming, breathtaking. Should be curricular. We all need to start growing up and fast. I'm as guilty as the next for throwaway comments in an attempt to appear educated and cynical - so I learned *that* today, at the very least. Will be watching this again and taking action.

Netflix offer a month's free trial.

... which can be repeated ad infinitum (work out how yourself).

I think it's worth the £6 a month. If everyone stops paying etc. etc.
