Raining again! Yes, I could go and ride int he rain but that isn't a fun prospect so what should I do?

My current options appear to be:

1) Bang in some picture hooks to get the paintings that don't fit int he gallery off the floor
2) Make some jewellery bowls - need to wait until 10am to get some materials
3) Continue converting the old ceramic sink stand into a fairy house for my granddaughter.
4) Start blocking up one of the doorways, build a stud wall and plasterboard over it - need to wait until 10am to get some materials
5) Coke and hookers - while hiding this from MrsWCA

Anyone got and better ideas?

Coke and hookers – with MrsWCA? (Obvs you to partake in this C&H fest as opposed to my plans for the day)

How about having a cuppa and a sit down so that you can plan? Sounds like you have a 10am entry point to a lot of things (maybe not the C&H), so a cuppa might take up a bit of time.

bike ride & beers - I have enjoyed some rides in the cold and rain but today it would seem to be going out simply for the sake of riding in the rain, on my own for no good reason. Also, I don't drink anymore and a nice glass of water at the end of the ride isn't as enticing as a beer in a pub by a roaring fire.

Coke and hookers – with MrsWCA? - I am glad you specified that this was for me and not you. Unfortunately we have our granddaughter over from New Zealand staying with us and we are not quite that open and sharing as a family.

Sit down and plan - This is the problem with not drinking, I am awake 18-20 hours a day so too much time sitting and planning. The stuff I listed was just the things that were suitable for the weather, possible within budget and didn't involve large amounts of organisation. You should see the full list of stuff I 'could' be doing

put the wireless on and get the maps out on the kitchen table, that's what I do, plotting and planning future rides for sunnier and warmer days 🙂

Then ride to the shop a couple of miles away, buy squirty cream, marshmallows, flakes and hot chocolate and on your return make hot chocolate with all the trimmings, feel virtuous whilst warming up and be best grandad for indulging the young un. DIY shops should be open by then.

PS if you can't be bothered with the bike then walk to the shop. Could even take the young in so she can discover the delights available after a walk in the rain.

I'm having a coffee at Mickey Ds before doing the weeks shopping at Asda. Can you do something for the house/family?

Hopefully a little spin later 😁

Going for a ride regardless, not made of salt/sugar and other tired clichés

For boring days I've got a set of stacking cats that equally keep me entertained and frustrated

Oh, and recording my first podcast in the shed later, rain noise permitting

bike ride, different coat. call for a couple of beers on the way back.

@Ton put it much more succinctly 🤣

Put on some high energy drum and bass and put the washing away, then clean the toilets. Well that's what I'm going to do!

Photograph and catalogue guitar stuff I'm selling.
Find the right boxes for above.
Charge batteries for wireless guitar system and Variax.
Put stuff back into the right places rather than where it has migrated to over the last couple of months.
Walk to the recycling centre with some bottles abd cardboard.
Walk to a pub other than my local.
Cook a prawn and mushroom stir fry.
Play guitar.

1 and 3 from your list as there's no need to go out and get materials.
Me - running kids around, tip run, cleaning, pick up some bits from toolstation, maybe a ride.

Done so far
Match of the day
Rowing machine
Took rubbish out and Disinfected bins
Measured up downpipe for some fittings
Fed birds
Measured up for a new sofa.
Measured up for a new chair.
Got distressed whilst discussing new sofa colours with mrs.

To do
Make lunch
Buy downpipe
Probably fit downpipe
Plan French holiday with young people, preferably by speaking to each other as disjointed streams of whatsapps haven’t actually helped make progress and currently we still appear to be going on a joint holiday to places that are 200 miles apart.

Did plan to go out for a ride but the weather forecast this morning was horrific so spent the morning building some Lego (Ecto 1 I started over 2 years ago!). Looked out the window about 11 and realised the forecast heavy rain was nowhere to be seen and it was getting better, checked the forecast and it's now showing as just grey for the rest of the afternoon so I'm just about to grab the bike and head out. Not the long ride I planned originally, just a local loop but riding outdoors is riding outdoors.

The Mrs and my daughter had a shopping trip planned in Altrincham this afternoon so they dropped off me and the dog just outside and we ran the 7 miles home in the rain along the canal. Showered and fed now and off to watch the basketball this afternoon 🏀🏀🏀

Well that didn't pan out quite as expected but was a nice day anyway.

I decided to go to a local car show to get some reference shots for my project to graft the front of a Citroen DS23 onto a Porsche 911. The proportions are challenging and some of the hard points (things on the car that are difficult to alter) are a bit annoying. Not sure how I am going to incorporate a fuel filler into the front wing of the DS23 yet.

I then can home planning to add three new picture hooks to the wall for the paintings

What I hadn't realised was that I really meant that I wanted to remove the old hooks and repaint the entire room blue. The paint looks way worse in the phot that reality because it was still wet and only the first quick cover coat. I might post another when I finish it with the second coat tomorrow and get the pictures back up - plus the extra ones.

While I was being a domestic hero I thought I would sand and revarnish the coffee table I made last year to remove the deep scratch that 'no-one' made over Christmas. This is it after a quick sanding, with first thick coat of varnish to hopefully better protect it. I will be sanding this back level and then applying 1 or 2 layers of thinned varnish to hopefully give a smoot and bubble free finish.

I did start the Fairy House but was told that after completing the two garages with a Ferrari in one and a Porsche in the other, I might want to reconsider the audience so I guess I will try again another day.Instead, I did some more painting, but artistic rather than functional this time. Not finished yet by a long way but the basic structure of the painting is pleasing me.

I have just published the latest changes to my website (NicksArtStuff.com) and then I think I am done for the day other than prepping for work tomorrow.

Happy to have filled a rainy day

went christmas tree collecting with my sons Scout's yesterday and today - 1000 trees at £10 a pop, after costs we have raised £8k for the Scouts 🙂

In the afternoon bleed the brakes on my wife mtb using my new SRAM bleed kit. Really easy.

Tidied the loft and put most of it into order, and got some stuff down to bin/sell/give away. Did the same in my two sheds and garage. Clearing clutter 🙂

That's a decent chunk of work for an unplanned day.

Me - after having been out of action with knee knack for a few weeks I'd decided I have got it to a point where I was going to try it out yesterday, and then ended up having to do family running about. So, I had to go today. Man was that hard, did 40km road, at 10% slower than I have been previously (not allowed to push knee too hard yet, sit and spin fast) but lack of riding and Xmas food also means I'm now over 100kg so hills are extra hard (that's a definite NY project)

And of course it pissed with rain, and was cold and windy, and about 3/4 of the way through and 10km from home there was a proper heavy bit and I just had a moment of WTF do I do this?

Winter miles, summer smiles......etc.

People pay £10 just for you to take the tree away?

Sounds like an excellent way to raise money, well done!
