I am part way though building a garden room for my misses to use as a little pottery studio. She has decided a sink and warm tap would be useful to have, for washing hands and tools. The building is 15m2 (no planning or building regs), sloped metal roof with guttering leading to a soakaway dug in the middle of the lawn. Currently we have the shell built and weathertight, but no interior work yet.

Does anybody have any advice on how we can add a hot tap? Is it possible to add a water tank on the outside and use that, along with a pump and electric heater? Power wise we can spare 16a for something, I've seen 2Kw 10L undersink water heaters that look good, but these are designed to work at mains pressure. I'm guessing it would be a good idea to add chlorine to the water tank?

There is mains water in the garage that is nearby, but it would be hard to add pipes underground due to concrete between the garage and garden room. It could be used to fill a tank using a garden hose, or maybe even permanently connected via hose, just removeable when the weather is too cold. We are located in Gloucestershire, so that would be pretty rare. The nearest drain is a long way away, so I worry about overusing the soakaway if connected to mains water.

I'd look at camper solutions. It's pretty common there. There are lots of options though. We have an ibc tank placed slightly up hill to give it some pressure. That is hooked up to a gas bottle powered horse shower. Gives loads of hot water but the pressure is at the lower end. They are sometimes used as campsite showers.

Thay said we only have the ibc as there isn't any mains nearby. If it was in hosepipe range I'd definitely plumb something in, even if it just runs off a temporary pipe.

Just to add, the 15m2 rule means it'll be exempt from building regs regarding the structure. It still may need to conform and even be signed off regarding water, drainage, electrics, etc although it's highly likely no one will ever check. It also has no bearing on whether planning is required.

Simplest would be the van handwash stations, 5l or so of water, powered on 12v (which you could do on an adaptor from mains power) to heat it up. This sort of thing: https://www.vanarack.com/shop/van-accessories/hand-wash-units

Actually that Teal company makes lots of non-mains sink/handwash things, this one is on 240v and you just fill/emtpy the clean and waste as needed: https://www.tealwash.com/shop/bigsynk/

We stayed at a campsite near Dolgellau a couple of summers ago that had sheds next to bell tents that had a shower in each. The shower was powered off a small gas bottle and had plentiful hot water surprisingly. I think it probably had mains water though as it had a normal toilet in each shed.
