After wondering how to stop the pump from our rainwater tank turning on and off all the time while supplying only small amounts of water I see that installing some sort of reservoir after the pump is actually a thing.  Has anyone done this and are there any gotchas to watch out for?

(sorry for DIY post, I'll find a bike related one to make up for it but this place is a great source of info that I trust)

If you've not seen it, there's a host of info here. Another project for the summer is harvesting the water from the garage and the rear half of the house. (I'm not doing the front as I'm not a fan of large tanks at the house front.

Thanks. I see that the do have one but it is quite small really.  Looks like I'm barking up the correct tree though so I'll take a look at other suppliers and see what they have

Fwiw we had this issue with our camper build pump cycling under similar circumstances.

We fitted an accumulator which resolved all the issues.

Pump charged the accumulator and we drew it down . Pump would kick in only once we had drawn the accumulator down a fair bit. Letting the pp run for a good cycle time.

That's exactly what I was looking to do.  Sounds like there aren't really any problems with it as an idea then.  I'll hunt something out that is about 10-20l.
