Organisations might have 'targets' for the percentage of workforce from certain minorities, but that's not the same thing as a quota. The reason for the targets? That people from minorities are still discriminated against and are generally at a disadvantage in the employment market. And that's based on research not just 'my mate who's bitter cos he didn't get a job'.

I like the way you ignored the bit about the reason for targets too - the fact is being white and middle class is still a massive advantage in this country - but some people just love to play the victim.

hardly, these are people with years of public service, exemplary service records and fit as fiddles - it has nothing to do with not being good enough.
Grum - that is not an excuse to employ people in roles that they are simply not suited to! Targets should never be put in role where they can not effectively achieved with out detriment to the role!

Even if your couple of examples were right (which I don't believe), that's a long way from what you posted - eg "every walk of life". I've never seen it in action despite having worked in several industries and being the perfect person to discriminate against if it was happening (white, middle class, relatively priviledged background) and having carried out recruitment.
