July can **** right off.

I usually "don't mind" the weather, but this is getting depressing now

Yep, I'm just sitting in a field in Galloway wondering what to do for the next 7 days. More annoyed by arranging being away while the roof is fixed, or not

I have a BBQ for sixteen this afternoon (forecast 40mph winds and thundery showers), and Ard Rock next weekend. Yes, it is truly crap.

Work summer party this afternoon at least they had time organise more covered areas...

Shame as its a massive event but we have high winds and rain forecast for the afternoon.

I got an earlier ride in while it was dry!

All this off the back of my favourite event last weekend, 100 mile sportive in the Cotswolds, also wet and not very warm.

July can indeed, do one!

Just roll with it.

Bad weather is shite if you let it win.

A friend is off to a wedding in a marquee in a field in the middle of todays weather warning.

I jokingly asked if her wellies matched her outfit. She did start googling fancy coloured wellies.

Aside from last Saturday it's been alright in Leeds.. trails were still prime on Thursday night's gravel ride.

Wet so far today though

I wouldn’t mind if it was proper rain, but we’ve just had days of unrelenting drizzle, like walking around inside a cloud

It’s the constant monotone grey skies that I find the most depressing 🙁

Kinda glad it's doing it now as it stands half a chance of sorting itself out by the time Y-Not festival happens at the end of the month - it's normally biblical at some point during the weekend and being on a Peak District hill, well....

If I were an early start type I could have got out before the rain arrives giving me half a chance of not too muddy trails. But I'm not, it's still sunny, and I'm still in my pajamas.

Why does it usually start great in the morning then as soon as the afternoon starts the big dark bubbles in the sky approach and almost every day for the past 3 weeks we get soaked , well i noticed it due to being so far behind with work

For forty days ’twill rain no more

Came down with a cold after cycling for hours in the pouring rain last Saturday. Might give this weekend a miss, but there's the nagging worry about losing fitness for PBP.

It's blustery in Northampton. Glad I'd borrowed an ebike from work as it made my ride into the wind a lot less unpleasant. No rain as of yet though.

Just got caught in a hailstorm, one minute hit sunshine the next so much hail I couldn't see the other side of the road. 3 minutes later hit sunshine. It's like spring but warmer

At least it isn't banging weather as I managed to tear a hamstring last Sunday in a charity cricket match and still not good enough to ride.

Swings. Roundabouts.

As per @devash I'm happier with a bit of rain than 40 degree heat. At least you can just waterproof up and still go out and do stuff.
Went to Greece a few years back in summer 35-38 c and all it was possible for me to do in the heat of tha say was sit by the pool in the shade and/or go swimming.

We get very few summer weekends off together (both work weddings)

We're off this weekend, supposed to be climbing/paddling in Wales and staying in our motorhome.

Sacked it off as really CBA with the weather. Just about to get a train to Manchester to get pissed instead!

It's not a bit of rain, it's thundery heavy showers and gales. Plus the alternative isn't 40C heat, we normally get 20-25C which would be lovely right now.

It the start of june I was doing this on Saturdays and happily selling my p[aintings.

Having no rain cover makes the current weather unsuitable for this and having a stall shaped like a sail means even if it is dry but blustery I risk losing the art/cart.

I have spent today sat in the garage making frames for the August exhibition while watching the wind/rain/sunshine* outside.

*repeat in random order** every few minutes

**sometimes combine any two for extra variety

sometimes all three simultaneously

I rode over to Kerry on my motorbike this week, it’s been lashing down on and off since I got to our house. Rather than out riding I’ve been out and bought a tarp for the bike.

Yeah, bored of it now. Look outside to see clear, blue sky, start thinking about going for a ride, look back outside to see torrential rain, decide against it, clear blue sky an hour later. Rinse and repeat.....

Got soaking camping at Whitby last week, in-between the hot sunshine.

Not that it’s any consolation, but I got rained on on Monday. In Cyprus. It’s been high 30s the rest of the week though, even in the mountains.

They were saying on the weather last night that somewhere in Europe (sorry…. can’t remember where) it was 37 degrees at 0ne in the morning 😳

I don’t even want to think about how horrible that feels when you’re in bed!

Given the option, I’ll take the rain. We just had a brief window of sunshine so I got out for a walk. It started raining again as I got back

Normally I'd be moaning about the rain in July. But as I've just had to turf the back garden it's perfect for the lawn.

I clocked 41.9 in the shade in my back garden in Cambridge this time last year, and events were being cancelled because of the dangerous weather. The outside temperatures were only dropping below those inside in the early morning, and sleeping was rubbish and unsatisfying. I'd happily take damp summers over dangerous heatwaves. Unfortunately that doesn't look likely.

Left Spain for the summer months for that reason.

Granada is just becoming unhabitable over July/August.

Been back in the UK for 3 weeks and it's poured down virtually every day.

It's all my fault this week. Booked it off ages ago with plans to go biking every day and give my fitness a massive boost. Thursday I dug the hardtail out and took the winter mudguard off the back of it.

Sorry.

For me rain isn't such a big deal on the bike in the summer - I'm a sweaty bast anyway so when it's warm(ish) I'm not that much wetter if it rains. The wind, however, gets right on my nerves - I am well and truly done with what seems like persistent strong headwinds wherever I go.

Watched the rain hold off all morning while I waited in for my Evochip pack to be delivered, knew rain was coming but thought sod it, it's not cold and I'm not made of sugar. MT500 is just about doing the job between sweaty and rain soaked - helps being on the eeb

Currently sat having a pint in Bakewell before the next stretch, avoiding being on top of a hill in the thunder that's been chasing me

Suns coming out now

Mate lives in Murcia and it's 40+. He messaged me earlier saying it was 34° at 3am

On the bright side the rain has cooled off the house and calmed the pollen down. Only just managed to trim the hedge yesterday morning though.
I'm more positive as I still can't ride properly,
Very windy though.

Trying to work on my house exterior is fun, I was prepared to entrust the scaffolding with Faraday cage duties, but then it needed to become a snorkel as well so the chimney can wait.

Tomorrow is a 3 up team time trial I signed up for weeks ago and haven't had the time to train or practice for it. Needless to say the weather looks acceptable if not ideal tomorrow so think of me at 09:24 trying not to get blown off the bike at the start.

I’m quite relieved that we’re not in another drought to be honest.

Likewise, my 30-odd year old Acer has been really showing signs of stress due to long periods of dry weather, with a lot of smaller branches just dying back, but with the rain we’ve been having, there’s lots of fresh new growth coming out at the point of the dead stuff, which is very pleasing to me, I really treasure that tree, it’s beautiful in the autumn.

Can I recommend a day at BPW to lift the spirits?

We rode it in heavy rain on Friday and it was the best day I've ever had there. Insanely grippy almost everywhere. In fact I had more 'moments' at Dyfi on those always greasy bits the day before.

We had intended to ride Barry Sidings on the Saturday but we couldn't face another night of sitting under the shelter in the pouring rain.

Couldn't help thinking about the Hardline riders...

I’ve had some family over this week and as we had planned to ride the Peddars away on Friday, we went ahead regardless of the forecast. Although a little damp, the tailwind made it easy and a great day was had by us all!!

Raining on and off all day, which is fine because the replacement for the new tv I had delivered last Tuesday, and which had a damaged screen arrived just before 12 this morning, so I was able to set it up and watch the Men’s singles final, which is not something I ever expected to see myself writing!

Been driving around the Medoc and local word is that climate change may mean this is the last of fine wines. Some estates are already looking at alternative grapes or alternative crops. I mentioned I'd recently been on a vineyard in N Yorkshire. 'Zut alors!' From Chateau Poujeaux to Chateau Rievaulx.

Washing to get out this morning but it's just started raining heavily. The forekasts now changed to rain all day. Just as the ground was drying up as well.

Might have to set the turbo up in the shed.

I hate the rain.

Dug a hole for a new pond*, it was half full already by the end of the day!

Whilst I sympathize that 40C+ is equally miserable at times, and our garden turned to dust, this year the grass is dying from over-watering!

*not a pond, just a sump for a water feature.

It might be raining, but it's not cold.  I don't mind the rain when its fairly still, but the high winds over the weekend coupled with the rain were terrible.

Still, I'd much rather have the rain than the weather in the southern Med at the moment.

Re-learning mud riding skills yesterday! Rained on us quite a lot, but still warm and sun broke out when we got the pub.

I try not to stress it. Can't do anything about it. Had eight weeks of dusty trails, so that's about an average 'summer's worth' I reckon, Anything else a bonus.

The nights drawing in however......

I kept trying to convince myself that it was in fact April yesterday and therefore: Wasn't too bad. Started the ride in overcast, about 50kph wind and horizontal rain, ended in heat and sunshine. I'm trying to be stoic, but really, that's enough now.

10@Kirroughtree on Saturday was the worst weather I've ever raced in. I'm a veteran of 7 Strathpuffers.

The rain was so hard that it was streaming off the front of my helmet in a constant flow, then onto my nose. I looked like an Olympic swimmer emerging from the water during butterfly stroke. It was nice to ride some really slippy off piste trails for one day but I've got the idea and it'd be nice not to do it again til November.

Monday Night Pub Ride tonight and it looks like the sun is due to come out (apparently). The moors are an absolute quagmire after the last few weeks though, so its one of our usual winter routes tonight - The Tour de Reservoirs. Its July FFS!!

Binnerette number 2 is in the South of France at the moment and she keeps messaging me telling me its hotter than the surface of the sun out there

Had the most bizarre Brissle weekend where we managed to do everything planned without getting soaked - 3 hours of tennis Fri eve, 3 hours of nerf wars and tree climbing in a field on Sat, watched bands play in the harbour festival yesterday.

Fine tuned the art of micro-sheltering against deluges.

I've spent the last 2 weeks working on the Cycling World Championships - mostly sitting in cars. I have not ridden a bike in August. I am desperate for a ride.

The weather in Scotland was actually mostly pretty good. A few damp days or parts of days but basically decent enough. I'm home now and...it's raining. It's been raining from the moment the train got into England and it's still raining now, 200 miles south.

I'm almost contemplating going for a run instead, things are that bad.

I was ebiking along the one of the highest parts of the South Down way when the rain and wind came barging into my face on Saturday. I think I would've hated it if I hadn't had the motor to cheat my way along, as it was it was quite f*n.

I've just made the decision to cancel a multi day bike packing trip, I can't be doing with it anymore, and I know 3 days riding in the rain won't be fun. I've done enough long rides in the rain recently to know that I just don't enjoy it.
