Never heard of her until yesterday, but watched the match.
It was brilliant.
They were brilliant.
Amazing achievement.
Prior to tournament, WR of 345th.
Post tournament, WR of 23rd.

They’re both lovely, well adjusted girls by the looks of it but you don’t get to that level without being ruthless, even at 18.
She just fired her coach.
brutal!
Well, if you're breaking into the world's top 20 and planning to get to No. 1, it makes sense to be coached by somebody who knows the scene, knows how to survive and knows how to win.
Sounds like he was on a short term contract anyway and the success won’t have done his CV any harm.
I'm not saying it's the wrong thing to do. Just don't be fooled by the 18yo just done her A levels..... she'd murder her granny for ranking points if she had to 😉
It all stemmed from the scraped knee medical break. Of course she milked it to gain whatever reset time she could. Just as her opponent tried to do all she could to keep the momentum. Ruthless.

Same with any sports people at the top of their game. They are usually successful at others things they try because of that ruthless drive to be the best and their self confidence.
Was watching a Tom Pidcock thing on Redbull TV yesterday where he was very sure he would win whatever he put his mind too. That level of self confidence can help!
Splits from is not always the same as fired.
From what i read he was chosen to go to the US Open to be her coach for this one tournament on a short term contract, he was one of the club coaches so had trained her when she was younger, reality is that she needs a top quality coach now to progress, he will still be at Bromley and still be able to assist where required, but from what is stated, he's more of the lower age coaching and up to competition level, rather than a competition level coach, not a bad thing, as he now has that feather of coaching a US Open winner to progress his coaching.
It is sad though that the press do have a little bit of nastiness in some of the reports on this, as always, they love reporting the pretty young winner coming from nowhere, but they also like to appeal to those who want to tear her down as well.
