Any particular reason? Do I have to go and look up what tedious old indie stuff they're obsessing about?

[edit]just looked.. happy to be wrong!

Sometimes radio6 hits a winning run/rich vein. One night it was dance night and took me back to my yoof 🙂

Yes. Its worth all the licence fee. Can't believe it was going to be canned a few(?) years ago.

I agree! Late night working seldom felt so enjoyable. Amazing Indian things (I have led a sheltered life), and now Tom Ravenscroft is grooving strong.

He crossover of Asian music into Western popular music is something I've always enjoyed. For me there is a wonderful mixture of influences that reflects my heritage. Whether it's the use of sitar to provide melody and/or a sense of pace or the drama of an Indian-inspired string arrangement, it gets me just 'here'. Reminds m of my Saturday mornings with dad playing a great mix of 1950's Indian film songs mixed with Cream, The Animals and The Rolling Stones tracks. East meets West can be amazing.

Caught a bit of this earlier, will have to listen again - Although it was Big Narstie (the amusing, large grime artist)

Remember Gideon Coe (I think) played a very long piece by Ravi Shankar the other month, sublime, and I'm a sucker for a sitar so would be good to catch some more indian tones.

Tom Ravenscroft plays such good stuff as well..

Who needs any other radio station eh?!

I listen to Bobby Friction sometimes on BBC Asian, a lad at work is Indian and recommended him. Heard Tjinder Singh talking about it, I'll try and find it, sounds good.

Radio 6 is brilliant,Mark Riley and Jarvis's shows are weary though and they can play a bit too much melancholy indie sh1te.

Big fan of the freakzone here, Stuart maconie played a fortet song t'other week which fairly blew my mind.
Had a Punjabi lady sampled throughout, very excellent.
