Every morning the girls in the office walk in and inevitably someone says ‘Alexa play upbeat pop’. It kind of just works, pretty inoffensive and nobody ever challenges it
If anyone tried starting my day with ‘upbeat pop’ I’d probably be doing a life sentence by now
this reminds me of working at a data entry place in wythenshawe in 1999, the default radio was Radio 1 but it was Mark and Lard on the breakfast show so it pleased some of us, including me, that liked their bantz but nonplussed everyone else. But we were still stuck with the radio 1 playlist which offended/pleased the same groups but in opposite. So no-one was happy. If I hear 'all the small things' by Blink 182 then Im transported back to that job in an instant
EDIT: still remember Mark and Lard had a bit of freedom with their tunes and hearing the full length of 'whole lotta love' at breakfast on Radio 1. Different times
they’re now playing Stereophonics for what I assume will be the 15th time today. No doubt Kasabian will be up next, then Oasis
Hahaha, this is exactly what I imagined it would be like.
Maybe with some Kings of Leon and Kaiser Chiefs chucked in too?

TBF Alexa doesn't know how to cope with play "Miserablist Northern Pencil Jockey playlist".
We miserabalists have our own version of Alexa

Paradise Rock

Marc Riley was asked about the playlist when on R1. He said that it was Mark Radcliffe who put the music on and then turned the studio speaker off and have a chat. So hadn't a clue what was being played.😃
Not much to use a razorblade for here. Love the desktop info you get too
