Isn't 2021 bad enough already?
Have I really got to listen to Mary Anne Hobbs!?
🙂
I quite like some musical stuff - The Greatest Showman, Les Mis, Phantom and lots of the Disney stuff especially.
I like to think that my reflexes are pretty good anyway but it's nothing compared to the speed at which I can change channels if I get in the car and hear Elaine Paige's voice on the radio.
Flaperon

Agreed - and when Chris De Burgh comes on too...

I can put up with some rubbish but she's an instant station switch. So, SO happy Mrs Pondo and I are in agreement on that.
Here's the antidote.
If you like great ROCK with not a hint of a perm ,listen to this real life Smashy And Nicey.
This guy is an absolute legend.

Radio 2 is simply the waiting room for the crematorium
Stereo underground on BBC sounds is excellent (if you are of a certain age)
I remember as a young'un having to listen to radio 2 in various crappy workplaces, absolutely hated it
now Im an old git (at least as old as my R2 loving co-workers were at the time)
I still cant stand it
Yeah, it's not about age. It's music for people who aren't interested in music.

It was actually a godsend for me after working in various places that listened to commercial radio.
I mean why the actual F would you choose to listen to commercial radio?
Insanity.
Why do all the songs seem to be sung by squeaky voiced singers with a false American accent-makes my teeth itch.

I freelanced for a company where the handbaggy woman running the studio insisted on playing Absolute 80’s all day. Clearly she hadn’t got the memo that graphic designers are required by law to have 6 Music on all day.
Next time they tried to book me I told them I was already booked.
A week of that is as much as anyone can take
The idea of listening to Radio 2 all day is bad enough. A whole day of musicals would have me researching how to make a suicide belt
Ken Bruce is okay - otherwise, it's 6 Music but that goes to rat shit at the weekend (other than RadMac first thing). EDIT: the Huey Show is good as well
Giles Peterson on a Saturday afternoon has clearly never watched any Brian Pern
I think I’d rather listen to Elaine Paige
I can't say I'm familiar with Ms Hoobs but I'm not very keen on musicals.
If you want to be taken on a magical sonic journey through a crazy interseller musical landscape, delivered in the most annoying simpering voice imaginable, then give the Hobbob a listen
R6 - It was jazz tonight. I hate jazz.
Ended up listening to bagpipes on Radio Gaelic (I actually quite like bagpipes but not solo).
Liz Kershaw should be on Radio 2 rather than 6. Lowest common denominator.
Like abit of R2 at work TBH, then again I'm not a too-cool-for-skool hipster. Just want something easy to to sing along to while I'm grafting without being sold double glazing every 5 minutes.

Agreed. Giles Peterson is total tosh.
Depends on the musical. Not all old school sing through nowadays 😁

Mrs Sandwich was in hog-heaven all day yesterday with wall to wall musicals numbers playing while WFH.
Yeah I hate Giles Petterson's show.
Otherwise Saturday is alright I think. Love the Huey show, Craig Charles Funk and Soul is basically 50% of my vinyl collection! Tom Robinson is a bit bland sometimes, especially Saturday nights!
I quite like Cerys Matthews show on a Sunday, and Guy Garvey too (not an Elbow fan at all, but he sounds like such a nice bloke)
Radio 2 seems fairly crap, but if I can't get 6 Music I'll normally listen to Radio 3. Unless Sean Rafferty is on. Sanctimonious, condescending ****!
EDIT...I have a love/hate relationship with musicals. I've played a few (not the pro touring versions) really enjoyed playing Jesus Christ Superstar and Rock of Ages. I really like some of Bernstein's too. A couple of my mates a proper 'pro' west end players. Really good money once you're 'in'.
This guy is an absolute legend.

Definitely - my daughter is a proper musical nut and has introduced me to some great stuff I'd not thought to see, from Rent, In the Heights and Hamilton, to Six, Kinky Boots and Made in Dagenham.
Which is a nice counterpoint to my own up bringing of My Fair Lady, Oklahoma etc courtesy of my parents.
