How is it leaking?

I was losing boiler pressure from a dodgy bleed valve on one Rad..the leak was so small it was almost invisible... I was sure it was tight by niping it up with a screw driver, but it it was weeping very slowly so there was a slow steady loss of pressure, leading to me topping the whole system up via the filler loop on a semi regular basis.

I bought a solid brass bleed key which sorted it out as I could tighten it up better without ripping up the bleed valve with a screwdriver..this kinda thing:

I'm not a plumber but I would fix the fault before adding sealent fluid to the system, as that sealent seems to be fixing a symptom rather than the cause.

Wait, are we talking about central heating radiators in a house? or a car radiator? that might help people answer!

Although, the point stands..fix the leak rather than dumping gunk into the system wherever possible.

No, don't! That shite gets everywhere in your cooling system and can cause more issues than it solves. Unfortunately it's a bite the bullet and replaced situation. I spent ages trying to clear out an MX5 that had been dosed with it and it was a right PITA. Cooling system no longer leaked, but overheating issues. Need a new water pump, stat, rad, and a whole lot of flushing.

If the previous owner had just replaced the core plug instead of throwing in some Radweld, it would have been a lot cheaper!

If it’s to ‘fix’ an issue before it gets chopped into Wbac, crack on. Otherwise, as submarined said, it can cause far more damage than it fixes.  Particularly in small passages such as around the head and in the jackets between cylinders.
