Evening all....stupidly agreed to help my folks drain CH system tomorrow. Not a plumber but installed my CH system and rads so as far as they are concerned I am their plumber.
Replaced the ball valve ok.... But need to drain the crap out of the system and replace inhibitor which was probably done 20 years ago.

Now I am used to the hose tail drain valves.

This old school cap drain is new to me. Is there a fibre washer or frangible seal under the cap? Assume just remove cap and shove a hose on. Bit of ptfe tape to secure any leaks once done.

Just wondering if there is anything I am missing as done want this job to turn into hrs

Many thanks

Might be an olive, I'd shut both radiator valves and crack it open. Reseal with PTFE tape.

I suspect you're not going to get out on the bike.

Turn the valves off at each end. Check they hold by opening the air vent, water shouldn’t come out after a short while if they do, drain the radiator by undoing each end.
Then you can put inhibitor back into that radiator through the plug on the top. Probably best to put a cleaner through it first for a few weeks.
